After my last post (a month ago... ) asking for Halloween ideas, I started pulling apart an old costume made in college, trying to make something else out of it, something that can be either a Cat, Mouse, etc according to the headdress....

So... I dug an old piece out from the back of my wardrobe, took it apart (completely... now it's down to the skeleton holding up the back of the dress, and a bunch of fabric.....Oh! As for why do I have to take it apart?  I needed fabric, and it's not like I'd ever wear this dress again)

THEN! My sewing machine broke down!!!!!  Before I even started anything!!!!

I tried fixing it myself, took it apart, and it more than changing oil, or having a thread stuck in the bobbin.... Can't fix it (hey, I really like taking things apart!!!)
Could have take it back to the store and have them fix it, but last month I was kinda busy, and it's a really old machine (bought before I was born!)......

O well, I'll just hand stitch the whole thing!!! LOL!! (the previous piece was all hand stitched also, but that's because the instructor would let us use a machine for the first project....)
    And here's what I got:

    Before

    After

(In case you're wondering about the lighting, one is taken before the party, one after..... LOL, when I suddenly remember I never took a picture of my back )

Basically, I ended up using only the bottom half of the original dress to make this tube.
+ some lace + ribbon + dark fabric I found somewhere in the stack of fabric at home.....
it's alright for a 100% handstitch and last minute costume piece I guess...
(Yes, it is last minute, even tho I destroyed the original piece weeks ago, sewing didn't start until recently, and I only got to spend my limited free time on it, I'm happy it didn't fell apart in the party~ LOL)

It's neither cat or mouse, ended up being a Lolita with the hat~

I couldn't find any nice mouse ears (all mickey mouse style....)
I DID brought my cat set with me, but voting taken place 30 minutes before the party was 2 for hats and 1 for ears, so hat it is, and I was a Lolita for this year's Halloween
    (Ears ended up with Elena)

    More pics later
