Last night I attended an Installation Dinner for the local bowling association and was inspired by four people who were there to accept very special awards.

First off, two young bowlers were there to receive Scholarships from the bowling association. Melissa Wong just graduated from High School (I think) and will be moving on to the School of Design in addition to her bowling career. School of Design? that caught my attention. hahaa...

And another recipient of the scholarship, Kenneth Martin, also fresh outta High School will be working towards his bowling career to bowl on the US Team for bowling. And as mentioned he will be going to Detroit next week to compete with the US Team (I think it's the youth bowling US team)

Obviously, in order to receive the scholarship, they'd have to be good in school and they both are with outstanding grades and achievements. That's awesome!!!!~ I wish there was such things when I was in school; but then again, I wasn't a great achiever in High School...

    -------
Then there were two Hall of Fame Inductees with very inspiring stories.

The first one, Michael Cristofani has been bowling since the '60s. As a youth bowler he only averaged about 140. Then he started picking up the challenge to do better. But one year he was in an accident (of some sort) and he was paralyzed from the neck down. But after a year he was better and not just was he able to walk again, he was able to bowl again. And he did better than ever. He's bowled 13 perfect 300 games. And he is currently the record holder for the Bay Area's highest average bowler. If I remember correctly, his average is a 214. WOW!!!! A lot of people were teary-eyed from listening to his life story.

And the second person,  Ron Murata, also about the same age as Michael, competed as a youth bowler. He's has his accomplishments as a bowler too. Bowling 15 perfect 300 games and a high series of 836 with 3 games of 279, 279, 278. And also he had one of the highest league average of a 240!!!!~ WOW!!!!~ his daughter is showing interest in bowling as well. And after this summer she will become an adult bowler and join the winter league with her father and her grandfather. A bowling team of 3 generations. How awesome is that!!!!~

    ---------
It was quite an evening with inspiring stories. Amazing people!!!!~ And in addition to all this, Tony Reyes (the professional bowler) was there as the Installing Officer. When we first arrived, he standing right by the door waiting to be checked in and I didn't know he was standing there and I said something stupid (hope he didn't hear me) but then my mom greeted someone, so I turned to look. OH! It's TONY REYES!!! hahaa... you may recall that last year I had a funny experience as well. Read here...

HAHA!!!~ anyhow, it was a great dinner / event. I was honored to be there and to help the bowling association design the flyer for this event.

Wow....even if Michael C. never improved his bowling, he's still a hero for recovering from such a horrific injury.

Very inspirational stories!!!  Thanks for sharing.  =)

Well done to these guys on their achievements. What happened to Michael Cristofani was a miracle. Glad he's doing so well now!

Aw lovely stories, the winners and inductees sound really deserving. It's always nice to hear things like this.

Haha. They're normal people and you can't help but be honest, even if someone else overhears.
