Welcome to my page...I'm James Jaculina, a former Disney artist turned freelancer.
As far as I can remeber, I was thrown into the world of art since I started school.
When filling out the school application form, my parents were asked,
"What language do you speak at home?" They shrugged their shoulders and said "TAGALOG!!"
The form ment "what language do you speak to your child?" ,which would of been English.
Thus I was dropped into ESL, were our form of communication was to draw. No formal training, it was just go time. The usual time rate was about 2 years, but i was kept on for 3. My last year I was kept on as an interpretor. I don't think it was because I could draw, but more or less because the kids thought I was funny.
Flash forward a decad and some change later, I apply to the CalArts Character animation program. I get in on my first try and surprisingly my entrance portfolio is used as an example to prospective students on what level of drawing the school expects of futrure applicants. Later Some of my sketches were used again in Animation Magazine January 2004 issue for "How to find an Animation School" article.
I am also a bit of an Independant film maker. My work has been shown at Film Festivals, such as Tribeca, San Diego Film Fest, and Action on film. On TV and online, I have been featured on Channel Frederator, Dailymotion, and MYX.
I've worked for various companies and I've done work for all types of genres. From Disney to Gene Simmons NGTV. Currently, I'm freelancing for the US Army as a graphic designer, while I'm studying 3D.
That's it for now...Talk to you soon
