Panasonic announces Technics production to cease in February 2010
The Technics SL-1200 and Technics SL-1210 turntables have shaped the
world we know today. Featured in the London Museum of Science and
Technology they are regarded as a major stepping stone in how music is
played and presented.
We have just heard the sad new from Panasonic (the manufacturer of
Technics) that production of the world famous Technics SL-1200 and
SL-1210 DJ turntables will stop at the end of February 2010. This marks
the end of an era - Technics have been the industry standard for over
35 years with this turntable and the SL-1200 is synonymous with the DJ
culture. It has been released and re-released over 9 times with
different models and numerous other manufacturers have tried to compete
with this deck, but above all, the Technics SL-1200 & Technics
SL-1210 are the undisputed number one deck in the world.
Much respect to these guys. They've come a long way since the college days and have found a very niche market among Asian Americans students. They already have a huge following, good luck!
Took a break from work and spent the weekend in Guangzhou to attend the Miss World - Guangdong pageant with my family. I must say it was an interesting experience to see the show from behind the scenes. Why are so many things fake in china?...even pageants? I would say 2 or 3 of the ladies out of the 35 were gorgeous though...too bad they didnt win. Here are some pics..
DJ AM was found dead Friday morning in his New York City apartment, according to TMZ. He was 36. According to police, DJ AM -- aka Adam Goldstein -- was found in his apartment at around 5:20 PM. Drug paraphernalia was reportedly found at the scene. According to TMZ, friends called when Goldstein had not been heard from in a couple of days and knocking on his apartment door yielded no response. In September of 2008, DJ AM and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker survived a plane crash in South Carolina that killed four others.

This guy was one very talented DJ who pioneered the LA mashup sound to where it's at now. Definitely one of the most innovative DJs I've met, who sampled and scratched like no other. From Vegas to Hollywood, he gave DJs celebrity status in the U.S. RIP
