  • [NEWS] Cyclone hit Burma & surroundings

    Friday, Jun 6, 2008 12:07PM / Members only

Ok~ I have no idea how to & as to whether can I start a new topic in the forum for this... so I'll just put it up here in my blog until admin or whoever is interested to a "ARTIST NEWS/EVENT/ISSUE" on this topic...

Well~ you see people, I received this email in my mailbox this morning... & I thought I should share the photo story with everyone... Do spread out the news & create some awareness to bring kindness & help to this country.

    Cyclone hit Burma and surroundings

[ NOTE : Very graphic... Not for the faint-hearted... ]

This is very graphic.....but people need to see this to truly understand the force of nature

Take this moment to: Firstly, reflect on the unfortunate loss of these lives,

Secondly, count your blessings that you have not experienced such a tragedy

Lastly, continue to pray that you & your loved ones never experience such an event.
  • hide Memorial Summit 2008

    Monday, Jun 2, 2008 1:29AM / Members only

Some of you who know me, will know that 1 of my fave Jap artiste is hide (松本秀人 Matsumoto Hideto). Well~ although Takuya Kimura (SMAP member) was the 1st Jap artiste to capture my attention, but Luna Sea stole my attention away within 6 months. Ultimately, it was hide whom made me went crazy up to the extent of secretly buying a 1-week air-ticket to Japan when I just turned 19! *Hahaha~ can that be considered an accomplishment?*
Even though he has passed away by the time I went crazy over him, but still... he lives on within all his friends & fans forever. Earlier last month on May 3 & May 4 @ Ajinomoto Stadium, Tokyo Japan, his brother & good friend, Yoshiki organized & produced a "hide memorial summit" in memory of his 10th death anniversary. A total of 18 artistes participated in the 2-day event.

    May 3 -
hide w/Spread Beaver, T.M.Revolution, RIZE, DJ OZMA, マキシマム ザ ホルモン, Daizy Stripper, Versailles, Hurdy Gurdy, Phantasmagoria & MarBell.

    May 4 -
X-JAPAN, Luna Sea, Dir en Grey, Oblivion Dust, MUCC, D'espairsRay, The Underneath & Heidi.
Man~ the lineup really got the adrenaline in me blasting with energy! OMF GAWD~ Spread Beaver, Luna Sea, X, TMR, DeG!!! I MUST WATCH THIS CONCERT BY HOOK OR BY CROOK MAN! Spread Beaver's perf was cool~ Chirolyn... hmmn~ the man seems to have toned down in his craziness quite a bit & Kiyoshi~ his image that night really kindda reminds me of Kanda Yu (D.Gray-Man). *hahaha* Luna Sea's perf was great too~ man~ my fave band of all times! Hohoho~ Inoran... & oh~ wasn't it sweet of Sugizo to have actually kissed hide's pic(you'll see that if you've watched the perf) on stage? The mind-blowing part that rocked & shocked me a whole load was when X-JAPAN & Luna Sea collaborated for 2 songs & you got to see Yoshiki playing hide's guitar & later part, Shinya playing on Inoran's guitar! Man~ drummers on guitars, hahahaha~ that really made my eyes popped out of it's socket!!

*I do a pink hair when I miss him too much... a red one on-off too*

Well~ there is simply tooooooooooo many things to talk about
hide, way too much for me to speak of all within 1 entry... it can almost be as thick as writing a dictionary. I would seriously recommend interested parties to go google him up & you can find loads of info regarding him. And go youtube or crunchyroll or tudou the videos, you'll be rocked!

    What Inoue Murasaki Lim Means
You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.
You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you.
At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.

You are a very lucky person. Things just always seem to go your way.
And because you're so lucky, you don't really have a lot of worries. You just hope for the best in life.
You're sometimes a little guilty of being greedy. Spread your luck around a little to people who need it.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are confident, self assured, and capable. You are not easily intimidated.
You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want.
You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way!

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.
You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.
You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.
You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are a seeker of knowledge, and you have learned many things in your life.
You are also a keeper of knowledge - meaning you don't spill secrets or spread gossip.
People sometimes think you're snobby or aloof, but you're just too deep in thought to pay attention to them.

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.
You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.
  • Bangkok Part 1 : Food from Bangkok, Thailand

    Tuesday, May 27, 2008 12:47PM / Members only

Almost every year, I'll go to Bangkok to find my Thai friend, Tan for New Year Countdown w/o fail; except times when I'm tied down w/other issue... Each year after I come back from Bangkok, I've always wanted to do entries on my trip. But it always get delayed... slightly delayed... & finally, it now ended up as "VERY DELAYED"! Well~ I'll consolidate my pictures for 2006-07 & 2007-08 New Year Countdown & update on it @ 1 shot over a couple of "even more delayed" entries. *Hahaha*
So letz go~ openin topic shall be somethin that everyone luvs about & is an activity that everyone must "get in touch with" 3 times daily w/o fail... FOOD!!!
Every year when I go to Bangkok, I'll definitely patronise this foodstall locat ed @ Bon Marché that sells a variety of handmade Thai desserts.
Among the many many desserts, this is my ultimate fave! *I MUST EAT IT & ALWAYS WILL BUY IT!* It's called "Luk Chub (ลูกชุบ)", made of flour & green bean paste. These 4 boxes are my victory purchases earlier this year.
In the past, this is a type of dessert that only the royal family gets to eat. It's all handmade, doesn't it look pretty? Now, there are culinary classes teachin how to make this dessert.
Becoz last year was the Year of Pig & this year is Year of Rat, the stallholder sold a new type of cookies that are shaped in piggy head & rat head w/different fillings. I bought 1 box that had a mixture of both & later on, I discovered that it had 4 different flavours! Raisins, chocolate, peanuts & plain flavour~ hohoho!
At a different stall in Bon Marché where Tan bought her coffee, the stallholder sold very interesting pineapple tarts. They are shaped in the form of piggies~ so cute!
Earlier this year, Tan & I went to another province to visit Dreamworld & we popped by 1 of their big shoppin malls-Future Park Rangsit for dinner & shoppin. Found this baby apples being sold @ 1 of the fruit stalls there, looks so cute. But they are sour... not sweet.
This food... every year I go to Bangkok, I MUST EAT WITHOUT FAIL! My top top fave~~~ Pigs' Blood Noodle!!! *heart flutters* See 4 bowls? Yes~ yes~ 2 medium bowls for me & 2 medium bowls for Tan! Actually could have gone for a 3rd servin, but nyah~ gotta leave some space for other foods elsewhere.
2006-07 New Year countdown nite, Tan & I tried out a steakhouse @ Suan Lum Night Bazaar. The food was just so-so only & frankly speakin, I think their chinese cuisine culinary skills somewhat differs from Singapore... it just taste slightly bland... or maybe I'm just too used to heavily-flavoured stuffs? For my Grilled Chicken Chop, I would prefer more lots of mushroom sauce ON IT, instead of being CHILLED OUT on a side dish... (~_~ ")
Ajisen Ramen (味千拉麺) also has branches in Bangkok, last year I dined @ 1 store near Tan's house. Not sure whether was my order Ramen & Coffee or was it Fried Udon & Green Tea. Well~ nothin much to expect from Ajisen... same goes for the taste... just so-so only.
Last year as I was crazy over Korean food, I grabbed Tan to go for a sumptuous korean dinner "feast". We had Bulgogi (불고기), Galbi (갈비), Japchae (잡채) & Pajeon (파전).
Another famous local dish in Singapore - Kway Chap (粿汁), but this is really different from what I see & eat in SG... In Bangkok, everythin is in 1 bowl! *It taste rather nice though.* In SG, the rice sheets are flat & are separated from the pig offal; there would have been some braised duck meat too.
There used to be a UCC Coffee Restaurant over @ Siam Discovery Center if I'm not wrong, but now it's moved & located in Kinokuniya @ Siam Paragon instead. Had a glass of coffee w/ice cream while Tan had coffee & some sandwiches for high tea. *Sandwiches not shown here... they were being 'shot' in another photo w/Tan.*
Year after year, each time I go to Bangkok, I would definitely pop by Ka-Tak Restaurant located inside Siam Square. The usual dishes that Tan & I would order to eat Fried Chicken Wings (Peek Kai Thod ปีกไก่ทอด), Papaya Salad w/dried shrimps & peanuts (Som Tam Thai ส้มตำไทย), Grilled Pig Neck (Kho Moo Yang คอหมูย่าง), Fried 1-day Dried Pork (Moo Dad Deaw หมูแดดเดียว), Spicy Minced Pork Salad (Labb Moo ลาบหมู) & Sticky Rice (Khao Neaw ข้าวเหนียว). *Hahaha~ I shaped my rice into "Star" while Tan turned hers into "X'mas Tree. corrected on 26/5"*
I tried out their Mixed Vegetable Rice & Tan had "pig's liver noodles w/crispy wanton skin(??)" @ a food court near her house. Lookin @ my plate of rice, it's supposed to taste salty right? Wrong~! It's sweet more than salty... hahaha! *Btw~ I think the lady forget to peel off the hardy skin of the Kai-lan (芥蘭).
I think this Japanese restaurant is located @ Emporium, they offer only a few selection of bento sets but all tagged w/very economical prices. I would rate this more as a family restaurant, rather than a high-class dining restaurant.
Last year, Tan & I drove her mom to Ayuthaya to visit her friends & relatives, while we went temple-hoppin. On the way to Ayuthaya, her mom treated me to a big luncheon. *Hohoho~ look @ that big spread on table! Oh~ I luv Mom! Hahaha~~~*
Well~ we arrived rather late back from Ayuthaya, there wasn't much available choices for dinner. So we just dined @ Sizzler near her house before headin back home to rest.
There's a Cantonese restaurant chain in Bangkok called LEE Cafe whereby they sell Cantonese, Thai & Western cuisines, so I decided to check it out during my trip in 2006-07. Usually my first dish @ any thai restaurant would be Phad Thai (ผัดไทย), as this is a signature Thai dish. To me, I feel that if you can't cook good Phad Thai (ผัดไทย), then I think your other Thai dish will taste any wonderful either.
I tried out MK Restaurant's Roast Duck Noodle (燒鴨麵), Cantonese cuisine. Hmmn~ the duck skin is not as crispy & the meat is not as tender as what you would expect from a Cantonese restaurant.
Hohoho~ next, I want to introduce everyone to a roadside stall @ Chinatown that sells delicious Chinese food. Their workers wears orange/red tees for uniform & the stall is located somewhere in the center of the street that sells food in Chinatown. Heard from Tan that the boss is a chinese himself, which is why he can understand what kind of food Chinese wants. edit: The stall @ Chinatown is called Lek-Rut เล็ก-รัตน์
This year, Tan brought me to a few new places for shoppin. 1 of it was Central Plaza, which I think is near her house, we had lunch @ Hot Pot Rattahatibeth. It was quite a queue that day, but luckily it was fast movin though.
We also checked out a BBQ Grill Korean-Japanese-Thai restaurant called Sukishi Bar-B-Q located @ MBK Center (Mahboonkrong มาบุญครอง). Kekeke~ I ordered beer & coffee together. Hmmn~ will there be one day when some genius can invent "Sweet Beer"? I want my beer sweet... just like Icewine yeah...*
I luv desserts... sweet sweet sweet... oooohhh~~~ I ordered Mango Crepe w/Mango syrup & Ice Coffee @ Food Cellar located @ Central Lad Phrao. In my opinion, I think this place is a "high-class food court". Since we went after lunch hours & before dinner time, so we got very good service. We just need to order our food, return to our seats & wait for it to be served.
Remember earlier I said that I went to another province & popped by a shoppin mall called Future Park Rangsit for dinner? Well~ I had Thai buffet dinner @ a restaurant called Chao Din, the food there are yummy & economically priced.
Back in Bangkok, I checked out another "high-class food court" located @ Central World. It's called Food Loft, I ordered a Korean set meal & Iced Coffee for lunch there. Taste not bad, just that I don't get those usual side dishes only....
Then before comin back, I went for a shoppin spree @ NaRaYa & Jim Thompson. After shoppin, I treated Tan to high tea @ Jim Thompson cafe that's just located near to the boutique. Hohoho~ really enjoy & relaxin... *Tai-tai lifestyle...* Okay~ so that's the end for the first part of my food trips inside/outside Bangkok, Thailand. Look forward to more updates talking on other stuffs in my next few entries... stay tuned!
