Just two more days before I can finally go to the Elgin Theatre to watch Donnie Yen in "Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen"!!!  My friend got the ticket last Friday and I helped pick up tickets for two of my other friends today.  Our basic plan is that I line up early for them so we are ensured with good seats.  I will be lining up 2-3 hours earlier than expected so to kill time, I will first leave my bag with my friend who works not too far from the theatre and pull out my PSP during the line-up wait.  I will most likely be looking for a seat in the mid-row for a good view of the screen.  I've honestly never been inside the Elgin before but if those episodes of Conan O'Brien (the ones he filmed at the Elgin in Toronto) were any indication, I can expect how big the theatre is.  Speaking of which, I actually saw Matt Damon outside the Elgin Theatre last year.  Also, I gotta remind myself to bring an extra camera to shoot some photos.  I know my cell phone's gonna run out of batteries by then.

Damn, it was raining like cats and dogs yesterday and I had walk in the rain with shorts on..  I knew I wasn't gonna come unscathed without allergies.  And when I came home, I was right about that.  My nose just kept dripping like crazy.  It just doesn't know when to stop!  I've tried plugging my nose and it didn't work.  (The kleenex I plugged in my nose ended up getting soaked.)  I didn't want to keep using tissue and I've had it!  I went to the washroom, grabbed my face towel and used that instead.  Sure saved alot of kleenex!  On the bright side, my friend pre-ordered the movie tickets to see Donnie Yen in "Legend of the Fist: the Return of Chen Zhen" next Thursday.  So I'll be there no matter what!  Still deciding on "Detective Dee".  Even heard Vivian Chow's lesbian flick is screening too.  So that is on my deciding list as well.

  • My favorite time of the year!

    Friday, Sep 3, 2010 12:49PM / Members only

Here we go!  My favorite time of the year is just around the corner.  No, it's not Christmas.  No gifts = My anticipation for Christmas goes down the drain.  Oh yeah!  I'm talking about the Toronto International Film Festival.  I had a great time last year with the gala premiere of "Vengeance" with director Johnnie To and Johnny Hallyday in attendance.  Sure, I got rackjacked by some hill-billy who decided to state an opinion instead of asking a proper question.  But this rackjacker never got to bump into Johnnie To again at a Chinese restaurant like I do!  So this year, I will try to do something I've been trying to do at TIFF for years.  I'm gonna attend a screening of Donnie Yen's new film.  I've tried it a few years ago when "SPL" and "Flashpoint" were new at the Toronto Filmfest but never successfully got in because they were always sold out.  But this year will be different.  My friend and I are gonna pre-order tickets for next Thursday night's screening of "Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen" (Couldn't they find a shorter English title for this?)  I'm deciding whether or not I will check out Tsui Hark's "Detective Dee" but it's in Mandarin with no Chinese subtitles.  I'm sorry, I simply cannot watch a Mandarin language with English subtitles.  I tend to not use the English subs and try to listen in as much as possible.  It's kinda hard to explain but I prefer to watch a Mandarin language film with Chinese subtitles.  I'm cool with reading English subtitles for everything else, though.

    Anyways, I can't wait!!!

I was in downtown this afternoon and saw this happening for like 10 minutes straight.  I managed to record a small glimpse of it.  I'm amazed at how the book reader can keep concentrating on his book while the conductor is constantly waving at him.  lol!

    Footage filmed in HD.

that's fine :) God has His timing for you. Christians are nowhere close to being perfect, gotta remember that it's Jesus we're following, not Christians.

:) it's fine, the time will come. I've realized though, that we'll never be perfect... so I don't sort myself out, I let Jesus sort me out :p if we can be perfect in our own power then we don't need God!

at the end of the day, who cares, right? we can't let other people affect us too much. esp those who might not be worth it.

haha.. i don't particularly take joy in people 'getting booted'. hey! take it as a compliment, he cared enough to speak to YOU about it. and again, we don't always know and see the bigger picture right? I understand you feeling offended, i've been in plenty of situations where I feel offended, but at the end of the day life's just a lot easier when we can look past things with grace :D

well, I think with all people we meet there might be misunderstandings. At the same time, no Christian or pastor is perfect. Perhaps the pastor wasn't being considerate.

About church-hoping though, I agree that eventually you'll have to settle on one. It's a totally different story if you stay at one and something happened and you want to switch. This is because going to church is not about listening to the sermons, but it's being a part of family where you can grow and others and walk with you. How can others support you if you leave so soon! :p it's like trying out for different sports team but never staying long enough to actually join one!

if you still wanna give it a try, you can come check out my church. i love it there. great pastors and family.

why would he take our lives away? He didn't choose to do that. He gave us a choice, our ancestors Adam and Eve chose sin and death. Yet God loves us so much still that He sent His one and only son Jesus to come and take all of our sins for us.

Physical death is only the beginning of life. :)

I'm a student at Centennial College doing my last year. I'm not sure what to do in terms of schooling or career but I might take a year to work and then travel. I feel the need to get out of Toronto!! Where do you want to go abroad?
