  • Puttin' The Powers Back In the Jing!!!!

    Thursday, Apr 30, 2009 11:24PM / Standard Entry

    Well
I guess it has been a while since I blogged, wow, last August. Thanks for pointing that out.

Well much has happened.  I guess I should be blogging more.   Alive Not Dead coming to Beijing(about time) inspired me to start up my rants again.
    I miss you Guys
I will do more detailed updates, but for now how about an over view.

well, 2008 was crazy, My buddy Telly Liu and I opened a bar in Beijing.

    It was groovy,
We did our thing and then we moved on.
However we had some super cool guests and great times,  Tsui Hark came in alot and we all had many long table talks with the guru about film making, and making action movies, and the trials and tribulations of filming in the ever changing market of China and America.  We even named a drink after him!

Ritchie Ren Came in for some visits after concerts that was great.

also Cui Jian stopped in a few times.

Ray Liu was in once which was a great event,
and of course Danny Chan mister Bruce Lee himself ,

oh thats Elliot and Dave standing in for all the big stars

We had a dream that was Aeon   a place for the film industry.
However it was a great quiet place to write,  and I got lots of stories done, so maybe it will prove to have advanced my film plans after all.

to sit back have a drink and just relax.

    we were big in Japan

and it was actually successful,  however we moved on. So closing the books on a happy note I focus my lens again,  Like a Laser!  -->  ON WHERE THE ACTION IS

Running a bar however much fun, is not something I suggest if you want a full film career, but I would love to go back and do one again some day,
learned alot and made some great friends.

in between all of that. Loads happened

I was brought onto a talk show honoring Tony Ching Siu Dong,  one of the worlds number one action directors,  a friend from CCTV noted that I often write about asian cinema in Impact Magazine so they had me on the show, and at one point I was actually on stage  interviewing Tony!  then he turned the tables and interviewed me,  wow Suddenly nervous I spilled my entire resume onto national tv,  great fun,  then he offered me a job on national TV.

unbelvable!!  I was even more shocked when they aired it in that form and then a month later he called me up himself to act in Future X cop Directed By Wong Jing  and starring Andy Lau, Fan Bing Bing, Da S, and  the incredible action hero (this time villain) Fan Siu WongI made this pic on photoshop after I did the film,

I was so happy to be able to have such a wonderful experience,  and I want to thank Tony CHing Siu Dong for giving me such an opportunity right here on AND!!!
in the film I played Kafka the Cyborg Mantis assassin I had an awesome fight scene with Andy Lau himself,  who I have to say is simply amazing.  This man never ceases to amaze!   I had met him at the Warlords Premier and was amazed at what a great and down to earth guy he was, working with him just multiplied that.
Let me tell you, this Guy can move.  You wouldn't think that a singer and teen idol was so able at screen fighting but I am a little embarrassed to say I was shocked at how great he does.   30 years of film making in hong kong I guess gives you a certain level of Kung Fu, and by that I mean Excellence!
Such a nice man  Thank again fr your patience Hua Ge!!!!

After Future Cop I thought I had hit the top, it couldn't get any better than that,
I had some down time and I needed it, after being dropped off of just about everything that was of some height on the stage my body needed a rest.
Many of you may  know that after finishing and leaving a film you feel like you have left your family, that was exactly how I felt.

Another great time was coming though,
In march I got another call from Tony Ching Siu Dong,   He had another film  this time it was called Ci Ling (Treasure Hunter) to be directed by Zhu Yan Ping Starring Jay Chow, Lin Zhi Lin, Eric Cheng, Huang Yi Fei Chen Dao Ming and a host of other great stars.
Ok   let me tell you, My dream was to come over here and work on action movies with the bg guys, I get that opportunity from time to time, but the feeling you get when you get called back is incomparable.  Another chance to do what I do.  I've been here ten years and that is still the best feeling!.
I'm going to not post any pics from this shoot as we are still filming,  look for pics as they get authorized, but here are two that are oki doki  , if anyone asks, these are from some other movie like ten years ago ;-) I got a slight tan standing in the desert

This time I was Fighting Jay Chow,   another wonderful hard working man in the industry.
This guy has a dedication to perfection,  I really respect him for that, he is not a martial artist by trade but no matter how hard it is he keeps going until it is perfect!! I really respect actors who play against suit and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty.    A super talented composer, singer, and actor,  and again such a wonderful guy.
Again in this film I got beaten hard, every chance to get smashed or dropped I was there, this one I got my shiny head ripped open, but no worries just a scratch.

Working with Tony Ching Siu Dong is awesome and  you learn so much, because you are constantly working, and he is making sure he is getting 200% from you,  and it is such a great thing working with the team,   Captaining the team was Peter (San Miguel) Wong as main choreographer- some of you may remember him as the animal stylist from the vandamme movie, "The Quest"   also helping him choreograph was O Cheng Wei, of the Sichuan Wushu team-

Now I know why after a Ching Siu Dong Movie we are like family, and Tony Ching Siu Dong is our father ;-) hmmm

Look for more detailed articles about these two films in Impact Magazine in coming Months
    ------------Yes Mike I know
2008 and now 2009 was a time of ups and downs.
This industry we are all here carving our way through, but we are entertainers, we are here to bring happy smiles to the people around us.
    And thats what we do.

    Carry On.

  • Success in Beijing!!!

    Thursday, Apr 30, 2009 1:36AM / Standard Entry

Big Success in the Jing!!!  I just got back from the first Alive Not Dead event here in Beijing
it was great to meet with buddies,  we in Beijing are a tight nit community finally we can share that with AND, Hats off to the AND team for putting together this event and bringing a little bit of Hong Kong to Beijing.
Highlights were the announcement of Alive Not Dead coming to the mainland finally partnering up with Tom.com also the 2nd anniversary of Alive not Dead as well as Beaver Kwei showing off of the new film he produced "Sophies Revenge" Starring Zhang Zi Yi and Fan Bing Bing, with a great shot of my butt (literally) on that trailer.
We here in Beijing hope this is the first of many such events and all look forward to the next one.
    Good Job guys!

  • 我不是中国人可是我是北京人.Beijing Olympics yeah!

    Friday, Aug 8, 2008 12:29PM / Standard Entry

The Beijing Olympics are kicking off today.  traffic is nuts, seurity is nuts, police and military on every corner.  but everyone is happy and excited.  on my street which I have lived on for a while, people come up to me with a great big smile and welcome me to beijing.  So while there is insanity around in the leadership, the People are Happy as can be and barely phased when they hear of silly people who climb up buildings with banners.

Protesters are kind of misguided and silly I'm sorry. while I don't agree with everything China does, the olympics is not the place to stage stunts like climbing up a pole to voice your feelings about tibet or something.
The fact is it's the olympics, an international event where we are supposed to forget our differences and just enjoy the sports of the world.  It's rude un educated and just wrong to protest at an Olympics event.    I heard they even have protester seminar video's, it's nuts.
this stuff has no place here.

It really doesn't matter what they are protesting, this isn't the time or place for it.

Despite the idiots though I think it's going to be a great event.  You just sit back and look at what they have achieved,  and while I am not Chinese I am a Beijinger and I feel pride about whats happening in China.  Beijing is my home and how can I not feel happy about good stuff happening at my home?   我不是中国人可是我是北京人! 北京奥运会成功!!
    Beijing Olympics rock!

  • New From the creator of Jackie Chan

    Tuesday, Aug 5, 2008 12:08PM / Standard Entry

So it seems the Hot days continue.
recently I was invited to walk the red carpet at an event, Wow it was an honor to have that happen.  It was for The opening of the new UME movie theatre in Beijing.
UME is the theatre chain in china owned my non other than NG See Yuen.

or Mr. N G as we cal him. Mr. N G is one of the coolest producers and film bosses out there.  Mainly because he gave me the chance to star along side Richie Ren and Fan Bing BIng in Contract Lover
but beyond that he is the Creator of Jackie Chan and Jean Cleade Van Damme.
as it's said on the preview of no retreat no surrender.  really check it out!

    Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r248R-3Y3Fs

This new theatre is located in Fuli Cheng  by Shuang Jing qiao.   just south of jian wai SOHO.
also at the opening was John Woo,  and Wu Jing, along with Nicky Li Zhong Ji- (Ji suk)
as well Han San Ping the head of china film group was there,  it was a great event and the theatre will open officially in the end of September.  the inside looks great.  I'll have more pics of that soon.

plus they had everyone sign the wall and I got to sign my name on the star with all the big celebrities,

ok   hope to see you all soon.

  • They really Love me, they really really love me.

    Wednesday, Jul 16, 2008 1:22AM / Standard Entry

Wow, I have not been here in a long long time.
things have been moving at a snails pace.
I have been writing some stories and scrīpts. also Directing some commercials and music video's, which I will hopefully put up here soon.  Went to the Shanghai film festival, and that was great.
I have been prepping different projects, and praying they will get picked up.  So while I have not been blogging I have been busy.
I have to say I missed Alive not Dead.  Sorry I have been away.

So the other day I got an email from my friend Big Mike Leeder that said I won an award,
I had no idea what he was talking about , as awards tend to be things that I remember. but I followed the link

    http://www.lovehkfilm.com/features/lovehkfa_2007.htm#jury

It was cool  that somebody other than my mom outside of china had seen the film i did last year, and someone actually liked my work.  It's not an academy award, but hey beggars can't be choosers.
Really amazed I got noticed for something like this.
So apparently I won the funniest performer award for 2007 on lovehkfilm.com. for my work in the film "Contract Lover" where I played along side Fan Bing Bing and Richie Ren.
follow the link above to check it out.

    thanks everyone
Nice to see how much the community has grown.
    See you all soon.
