Today they sent me out on my own.I was put on a partial route that takes the regular carriers three hours but it took me about 6 hours but I was encouraged by a couple of my new coworkers who actually drove by to check on me.When driving the postal van I forgot we can park anywhere so I was wasting time finding parking. But when you are driver someone elses vehicle you forget its not yours. It was more humid than yesterday so that was the biggest obstacle. But people are so thoughtful by offering me water and I never turn down a bottle of water.I never thought about giving my mail person water...EVER.Maybe its because I don't see them too much but I will start if I do knowing now on what they go through.
My first scare was it started to sprinkle and I had no rain gear but it was a refreshing sprinkle that was brief.
My second was I had just delivered the mail and the child went to pick it up I heard a growl and turned around it was a German Shepherd. If that kid didn't catch the lease that dog was coming after me.I learned dogs get really defensive around children. But thats what happens the children are in such a rush to get the mail but they don't know where their dog is and thats a danger.I wish their parents would teach them to wait until the carrier leaves the property when they have vicious dogs.
Another unfortunate thing was I got a vicious dog alert. It was a pitbull so the people let it stand at the front glass door.I don't know why let them run around loose the should be chained up.So it sees me and starts barking.I had to skip their neighbors house who had medicine which needed delivering but they lose out because of their neglectful neighbors.God forbid if that person died because they needed that medicine badly.
