So after ten weeks
of dedicated study at school, the holidays finally arrived and this time it
wasn’t just a boring two weeks at home, instead it was a trip across the ocean
to the 2nd largest city of Japan, Osaka. All that effort, and brain
power I had planted into assignments and exams had really consumed a lot of my
energy, so a holiday was the ideal treat to restore myself and relax my senses.
Now let me inform
you that I love travelling, however I hate plane rides. I don’t know whether
it’s just me, but the smell of planes really turn me off. Just that gassy smell
that is emitted from the petrol tanks makes me feel rather drowsy. Not only
that, sitting on your ass for hours is a really uncomfortable and num feeling. My
excitement was far from willing to be unleashed until the tedious 8 hour plane
ride had come to an end.
We finally arrived
safely in Osaka International Airport, once I stepped out of the plane I felt
the aura of freshness and relaxation. By now, my excitement was starting to
kick in as I could finally feel the holiday vibe latching onto me.
Once all the immigration examinations were completed and our baggage was claimed, we laid foot onto
the open atmosphere of Osaka. Here I am at the bus terminal awaiting for our
bus to arrive.
(Sorry about the low quality photos, my sister cannot hold a still camera!).
The next day we set
off to Universal Studios a place full of happiness and exhilaration. I have
already been here once last year but since it was my sister’s first time in
Osaka we decided to go once more. I had my fingers crossed that the weather
would be perfect, because even the slightest rainfall would have ruined the
day. I was really worried as Osaka was currently facing typhoon season and if a
typhoon rocked up on the day or any day who knows what catastrophes could
occur. Luckily the weather was beautiful! The sun was gleaming in brightness
and there was no sign of rain or dull skies.
The next day we
traveled to the city of Kobe, home to the legendary delicacy of Japan, Kobe
beef. On this journey, we ensured ourselves that we ‘must’ try Kobe beef, as
such an opportunity by all means cannot be missed.
My first opinion of
Kobe beef was, “OISHII!!!” (aka DELICIOUS!!!) The meat is soo tender and mouth watering it feels like it's melting in your mouth. I'd have to say this is the best beef I have tasted in my life!
For the rest of the week all we did was shop, shop and....SHOP! No complaints from me as shopping is at the top of my hobby hierarchy. Plus I had a lot of work to do, scouting for some trendy shoes to add to my much loved shoe collection. I also lurrve looking at Japanese gadgets. They have the most high tech innovations, especially their diverse range of mobile phones which unfortunately are not compatible in Australia. Aww I wish I could take this one home with me.
On the second last
day, we visited Osaka Castle, a beautiful monument first built in 1583, and a must see tourist attraction. We didn’t
actually get a chance to enter the castle, but the castle grounds are open to
the public where the locals bring their dogs for a stroll along the site and
there are occasionally buskers present, putting on some pretty entertaining and
humorous performances. I was lucky to have caught one, but unfortunately I
didn’t get a picture with him. Sorry!!
Well a holiday never
lasts forever, and sadly my getaway to Osaka had already come to an end. I
would have to admit though, that all that walking and shopping has truly been
exhausting, and if I were to stay for any longer, my legs may just collapse. So
for now, I’m just going to enjoy the rest of my holidays, relax, spend time
with family and friends before I roll back into my daily school routine. Till then, take care.
Welcome to my profile! Yes I know it's pretty plain but hopefully I'll have time to prep it up a little bit just not now because... I'm busy :D Well how about I introduce myself to you, my name is Megan I live in Australia, and I'm currently attending high school (1.5 more years till I grad! xO) I love nature and its creatures, I have a soft spot for animals and always have loved them since I was little. To me, life isn't all about materialistic things but treasuring the important things in life that are priceless such as my family, friends, God and my attributes. But I would be lying if I told you that materialistic things don't matter, I love fashion, accessories, shoes, bags, shopping and pretty much most of the things girls love. However it's not my obsession, and I would never let it become one because it's not something that will provide me with an endless amount of happiness.
I am also a person who does not judge another based on their physical characteristics, race and a major one "popularity". We are all human, nobody in this world should be more superior than anyone else, in the end we are all equal no matter what people think and perceive they just have to accept the fact that nobody deserves to be treated any higher or less than any person in this world. Today I think you all pretty much see major news headlines with predominant topics such as murder, war, corruption, hate and judgment. It is easy for people to identify such events and as we gradually move on in our lives we tend to find these things more and more frequent and therefore fail to care as much. Crime is increasing and getting stronger, however punishments are getting weaker. I tend to question myself where is the morality in this world?
Which is why I turn myself to God, the Bible is an phenomenon piece of guidance and truth. Many people don't take God seriously or bother to seek the Bible and at the end of the day it's because we are all "too busy". It's amazing how much dedication we put into work that we forget to take a break, a day of rest to spend time with loved ones and the most indispensable gifts of life. We are confused and do not realise that Saturday (not Sunday) is the Sabbath the seventh day in which God blessed and sanctified to reward us for our work. It's a holiday, a Holy-day. A lot of you people reading this now must be thinking what kind of weirdo or spiritualist I am, but everyone has their opinion and I accept that, but one thing that I will assure you is that it's the truth, and I have never been more sure about anything in this world as I know that God is the truth, the way and the life and as long as I have him by my side he will never let me down. Oh and I forgot to tell you, I am a seventh day adventist and am so happy to be one. The feeling of knowing, understanding and having his presence around me is without a doubt the best feeling of my life.
I grew up knowing about God through the Catholic faith as I went to a Catholic primary school and now in a Catholic high school but although they educated me about Jesus and what he had done, I never really felt close enough to become a Catholic as I wasn't moved by their teachings. However when my sister told my family about the seventh day adventist church and their teachings I became really interested, so we decided to attend the church on Saturday, and begin Bible studies. Oh and wasn't it wonderful! Everything made so much sense and what it tells us is absolutely incredible. The preachings of the pastors is amazing hearing them spread the truth about God and what he has planned for us just touched my heart and still continues to every week I attend church. I don't know how carried away I have gotten but i shall conclude and those of you who have read to the end thank-you, and if you ever need someone to talk to then feel free to add me as a friend or send me a message, as I would be happy to answer you. Take care.
Yeah I got most of the early Hayao Miyazaki movies except one or two (I think the one with the porky pigs and one with line-drawn old peoples).
As for Daniel, I met him at a gallery exhibition opening. My dad (Danny Chau on AnD) did an exhibition for Diesel here in HK and it was through that that we met him.
As for myself, originally I come from business background. After graduating university in BA Business Administration I went into and ran the family business for several years before coming to HK, where we wanted to open a new office (and have a change of lifestyle too). Our move to HK came out of the blue actually....totally unexpected (never thought in a million years as a BBC I'd be living over here!). We deal with digital imaging, art and photography. My dad is a professional photo/fine art printer by trade ie. work with galleries/museums and photographers to produce exhibition-quality prints, as well as commercial retouching. We still have a business over in London as it goes.
That is sooo spooky! I was thinking of hollering you earlier, you know?
Yeah I was part of Jeanne's acting class! :) I didn't get to meet Daniel at the class but I know Daniel personally. Yes in the class we were given scripts (which transformed us into someone else) but also impromptu drama as well. Yeah, it was an amazing experience to say the least! :)
Also....just noticed you like Laputa? OMG! I love Laputa too! (aka Castle in the Sky!)......watched it many many years ago. I really love the stories and animation works of Hayao Miyazaki! :)
My name is Megan, I have a passion for animals, love shopping (especially in Japan), fashion, eating good food, listening to music, and traveling! Oh and how could I forget, the most obvious, Hello Ki...
