  • Teamed up for food search :-)

    Thursday, Oct 25, 2007 1:36PM / Standard Entry

I have arguably gone through the list of all the yummy street food and fine cuisine of my type in the city, and it is time to reach out a bit and join the force to search the unknown nice eating places.
So yesterday Stev and I sought out and teamed up with other bunch of people, lead by a native SiChuan, to a SiChuan restaurant, here is a very detailed report (fast!) :
    http://spicygirl.livejournal.com/38780.html?view=90236#t90236
It was more than 10 years ago since my last time to have genuine SiChuan food with my girlfriend in medical school, whose family is from SiChuna initially. Stev is half SiChuan half Shangha, we both like the spicy and hot food, and it reminded us the taste back many years ago.

    SiChuan food, toi, mon amour:

    Bonjour Vietnam

Raconte-moi ta maison, ta rue, raconte-moi cet inconnu,

    Hello Vietnam

Tell me the story of this name foreign and difficult to pronounce
That I've had since the day I was born
Tell me the story [of the] ancient empire and the feature of my eyes
tell [about] me better than you dare not say
I only know you from the photos of the war
A film by Coppola, the helicopters in anger...

One day, I will go there, one day say hello to your soul.
One day, I will go there, to say hello Việt Nam.
Tell me the story of my color, my hair and my small feet,
That I've had since the day I was born
Tell me the story of your house, your street, tell me this unknown entity
the floating markets and the wooden sampans
I only know you from the photos of the war
A film by Coppola, the helicopters in anger...

One day, I will go there, one day say hello to my soul.
One day, I will go there, to say hello Việt Nam.

Temples and stone Buddha statues for my fathers,
Crouching women in the rice fields for my mothers,
Praying, singing in the day light meet my brothers,
Touching my soul, my roots, my land...

One day, I will go there, one day say hello to my soul.
One day, I will go there, to say hello Việt Nam.
    To say hello Việt Nam.

  • I ride a motorbike!

    Sunday, Oct 21, 2007 11:41AM / Standard Entry

    ok, just a scooter.

Stev got 3 motorbikes and encourages me to try the light one, so I picked up one scooter yesterday, and took an adventure with him in downtown taipei. I had half hour training session in the parking lot before heading into the less crowded Saturday flow of scooters, and spent 2 hours on road, went to somewhere near DanShui River, and there is a long trail where I can rent a bike for a ride. It was fun and now I am confidant to actually own a scooter and go around on my own. :-)
I still think it looks messy to have so many scooters on street, but oftentimes you see a hot girl sitting backseat leaning on her boyfriend, that gives you a smile, isn't romantic like Roman Holiday?
Below is a picture I take from internet, looks more like in HK rather than taipei.
