In Europe it is a big season for children, starting from Saint Nicholas to Xmas, kids got gifts from Saint Nicholas and Zwarte Piet (black peter) all the time. There was a movie 2 years ago named 雯琪的马儿 "paard van Sinterklaas/le cheval de saint nicolas", it is a Dutch made movie, a story about a little Chinese girl Windy moved to Holland with her parents who are busy with their Chinese restaurant. She loves a pony and finally was granted as a Xmas gift, the movie was quite popular.
It looks like that in North America, Santa Claus is rooted from Dutch immigrants when they brought this tradition to Nieuw Amsterdam, then time New York city, and with contribution of cartoonist and influence from other immigrants it finally become Santa Claus.

The other day I was listening to Itunes on my Mac and checking emails, just by the first time I found there were few new entries on my Itunes left menu bar as "shares", and list was changing all the time, out of curiosity, I click them in (some even provided a password indicated on share name), and realized these are the people using Itunes within the same network and open their music collection for share, I found some very good chanson collection of Brigitte Bardot, Coralie Clement... and others, was really cool. caught cold and I am still on my way of travel.. saw group of soldiers in Atlanta airport led by some seemingly proud shop keeper ladies, passing the hall to the boarding gates, "come on, clap your hands..." the ladies said to the crowds, I didn't, good I am not american, so I don't have to. These young men are not to sent to defense their homeland, but to kill and to be killed in another country they have never been to, they need some courage but not just to go there, or feel lucky to be home (on my airplane, the aircrew said welcome them home), rather to face the truth.
