  • Canadian Thanksgiving & My First 'Turducken'~!!!

    Wednesday, Oct 20, 2010 12:18AM / Standard Entry

I took a few days off last week to visit some family in Canada and had my first TURDUCKEN during Canadian Thanksgiving.

If you haven't had one and don't know what it is, it's a CHICKEN stuffed inside a DUCK, stuffed into a TURKEY~!!! That's RIGHT. Human gluttony has reached that level ladies & gentlemen.

The cajun twist added a nice spicy taste & I really enjoyed it.

See all the layers??? I especially liked the spicy sausage stuffing (the darker parts)...otherwise turkey to me is rather bland.

After hearing about 'Turducken' from friends the past few years, I was glad to have tried it this time around.
I wonder if it could be found in Hong Kong for American Thanksgiving...?

  • 'Red Earth' short film shows at Venice Film Festival~!!!
     |  )

    Thursday, Sep 2, 2010 12:04PM / Standard Entry

I'm so excited and proud to have been involved with 'Red Earth', a short film directed by Clara Law, staring our very own Daniel Wu and myself. It's visually captivating and thought provoking, with a clear environmental message.
It is currently showing at the Venice Film Festival~!!!

An Australian newspaper 'The Age' wrote about it the past two days.
    A quote from the article:

"The only Australian film to get a slot in the festival is Clara Law's 21-minute short, Red Earth, co-produced by China and Hong Kong, about a man who checks into a hotel to see a renowned sunset with a woman he can barely remember. It screens in the Orizzonti section."

In yesterday's 'The Age', I was on the same page as Jessica Alba, and today Natalie Portman! Two female actors I have alot of respect and admiration for and I hope I can be of the same level one day!

My blog about this shoot in March.

    Want to watch RED EARTH?
    Here's the trailer~!!!

Congrats on going to the Venice Film Festival Clara & Daniel~!!!

  • Prague, baby~!!!

    Friday, Aug 6, 2010 6:17PM / Standard Entry

My trip to Prague last month still puts a smile on my face when I think about it now.

The weather was great (summertime, sun in the sky, low humidity), crew was amazing (see previous blog of my Melbourne trip), and the city itself was beautiful.

All the architecture looked like it was kept from the period it was built, the city's wide cobblestone streets were very clean and although the locals aren't a naturally smiley bunch, they were pleasant to deal with.

The Prague TV Tower...see what those black 'ant-like' things are attached to the sides???

That's right! They're giant 'scary black BABIES' crawling all over the tower! It was once an art installation by David Cerny that ended up becoming permanent! How cool is that?!?

We shot at the most amazing locations in this unforgettable city...

and spent a day at an amazing chateau decked out with art in every corner. Look closely!

These human sized 'angels' were totally mesmerizing.

Each room was very different and special.
I loved this room full of skulls.....
...skulls made out of bread dough!
Looked gruesome but smelt so gewd!!!
DOUGH?!?! That brings us to one of my favorite subjects: FOOD~!!!

I found out that because their winters are very cold, traditional Prague (Czech) food are very heavy with menu items such as mash potatoes, roast lamb, goulash of sorts etc...

The pastries we had were amazing~!!!

Now. I'm a moderately adventurous eater. When 'veal brain' was part of the menu at the wrap dinner, it took a lot of persuasion for me to try it...it was all soft & mushy & PINK on the edges!!!

    I was NOT impressed~!!!

But something that I'd love to go back for is PRAGUE HAM! There were these kiosks in the town's center selling weighted shaved ham and it was DELICIOUS!

I took over 600 photos on this trip so apart from the highlights here, there are more pics in the photo album here.

Fun polariods from this trip: I've named them 'Paparrazzi' & 'KickAss'.

Looking forward to my next trip out...wonder where it will be?!?!
