  • New LUKFOOK tv commercial out~!

    Saturday, Oct 17, 2009 10:52PM / Standard Entry

My new tv commercial for LUKFOOK jewellery is out!!!

It's a very endearing story about best friends who grew up together but were very different in personality (as reflected in the way they dress). I'm the one who always wears pretty dresses and my best friend was always the more 'tomboy' of the two. I decide to change and go to the wedding wearing something more...casual...

The voice you hear in the commercial is me saying:

"Today, I should not be the prettiest...even though I'm usually the one who likes to dress up...

After all these years, we're still the best of friends...

Today - she should shine and be most beautiful.

    Love...is beautiful."

It was a really fun shoot with a GREAT team. I've worked with them several times before and will definitely post behind the scene photos of the shoot once I get back to HK and have access to my hard drive! The two little girls were really cute and fun to work with also...up and coming stars of the future I'd say~!

This shoot was interesting because the instructions were to keep me as simple as possible...no beautifying mkup and 'added extras' such as false eyelashes (which is the norm these days even off camera for many in the industry) to make sure I was...to not outshine the bride...Ofcourse I totally GET IT as that was the whole point of the story(!) but it was a weird experience to shoot a tvc and not look a 'certain way'....!!!  Oh well, I hope I don't look too bad!!!      Oh!!! Also, on the last shot, the director asked me to think about my own best friends wedding and I was actually tearing up with emotion...hope u guys caught that(!)....Kekekekkeeeeee all of you out there who know me knows I get all mushy and emotional at things like that~!!!

On Lukfook's own website, you can catch my tv commercial again, along with one beautiful Elvanna Raine (fellow ALIVE artist!) shot for Lukfook also!!! The 'behind the scenes' (3rd video down the page) is interesting so check it out, I speak a little in it . http://www.lukfook.com.hk/

  • ...as the wind blows...

    Tuesday, Sep 15, 2009 1:22AM / Standard Entry

As the wind whips the violent rain

    upon my windows

    this endless typhoon night,

my mind wonders and carry me to a place...

A place of comfort, this is

Winds howl here but with no malice

    just another element, blending in...

with the sands, the trees and the rolling waves

this is where my heart and being is alive.

Through the years I've become a city girl

    loving

the bright lights, the constant change

But on a night like this, every fiber in me

    screams a yearning so loud...

    Now I see.

Let me go to another time, where I can

be free with the wind in my hair, stars in my eyes

    and laughter fills the air.

Where the feel of sand underfoot and

    the kiss of the sun

    upon my closed lids

are all the promises and simple pleasures I need.

But here I am, as I lay awoken

    still in this strange metropolis.

Where drums beat in tune to the white wash

like the trouble thoughts swirling in my head...

I will find that place of comfort one day, I say

And with hope, we all go on.

    Everyone has a destiny

    or so they say...

    but what is mine?

    What is mine?

And how can a night like this

    answer me?

  • Grace in 竊聽風雲 'Overheard' Movie (with Daniel Wu)!!!
     |  )

    Wednesday, Aug 5, 2009 7:15PM / Standard Entry

The HOTTEST summer blockbuster movie '竊聽風雲' / 'OVERHEARD' premiered Tuesday night in HK and will be hitting cinemas all around Asia this week!!! EVERYTHING about it is HOT HOT HOT~!

Here I am arriving at the movie's premiere...

I spoke with Daniel for a bit after arriving there, but before I had a chance to grab a photo with him, he was ushered to do the press line...doh~!  and so this was the only picture I got of him all night!  Of course, the main cast was totally coveted by the press and their long lenses the entire time!!!

WHY IS  '竊聽風雲 / OVERHEARD' a TOTAL BLOCKBUSTER???

    1. The team behind the movie and story is HOTWritten and directed by Alan Mak and Felix Chong - the masterminds behind the 'Infernal Affairs' trilogy - and produced by Henry Fong and Derek Yee, this crime thriller is a nail-biter all the way to the end with a few twists, dramatic surprises (wouldn't expect anything less!), and also some touching moments and comedy thrown into the mix.  A total MUST-SEE!

(Left to right: Felix Chong, our very own Conroy in da house, Alan Mak and moi~!)

    2. The all star cast is MEGA HOT:  AnD's Daniel Wu 吳彥祖, Louis Koo 古天樂, Sean Lau Ching Wan 劉青雲, Zhang Jingchu 張靜初, Alex Fong Chung Sun方中信, AnD's Michael Wong王敏德, Stephen Au歐錦棠, Sharon Luk陸詩韻, Queenie Chu朱慧敏, Lok Ying Kwan駱應鈞, Dominic Lam Kar Wah林嘉華, Waise Lee李子雄, William Chan陳偉霆...and....AnD's Grace Huang!!!  Okok...I had a small role in the movie too~!!!

This picture below was taken of me with Daniel and uber awesome directors Alan Mak and Felix Chong on the day of the shoot.

I am so VERY VERY honored to have had the opportunity to work with such an awesome team!  The crew was so professional and both directors were super cool, chill, and had kind and encouraging things to say about my performance, which I'll always remember and hold dear in my heart~!

My role was 'Jenny', Daniel Wu's character 'Max's' fiancee!!!  Jenny was Max's long-time sweetheart/girlfriend who happens to be from a very wealthy family.  They get engaged, are in the process of moving in together, and then Max comes under heavy pressure from Jenny's dad to...step up and perform~!!!

Unfortunately, as in all projects, you can never predict what ends up in the final cut...the scene between Daniel and me ended up much shorter than what we shot, which was a total bummer for me.  It was kinda a shame because I felt that the final version didn't give the audience a chance to see a really cute and tender moment between Jenny and Max.

If included, (there's always the uncut DVD version!), I feel the edited scene would've added more depth into the understanding of Max and his motivation behind what/why he did what he did in the movie - which was why the scene was written in the first place...   Oh well~!

Working on 竊聽風雲 gave me my first chance to work with many greats in the HK movie industry and I'm so so happy for that!!!  It's a solid start and I hope to get a more prominent role in my next movie...fingers crossed~!

Here are a couple more pics taken at the premiere.  There were so many huge stars that turned up to support the movie; I really wanted to take pics with ALL OF THEM but I didn't want to be 'one of those crazy stalker type fans' so I just took it all in mentally...but thankfully, my dear dear Raffi was a total sweetheart and took some of the following pics for me on his camera~!  Thanks Raffi!!!

    林嘉華 (Dominic Lam)!

(Reggie Martin, G, Andrew Lin and Vivian.)

All in all, 竊聽風雲 / Overheard is a great movie and I'm so proud to have been a part of it. This one's bound to be a multiple award winner come this year's award season.

Make sure you guys check it out~!!!

  • FREE!!! 'HOME' - a film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand (on World Environment Day June 5th)

    Friday, Jun 5, 2009 1:22AM / Standard Entry

Today June 5th is WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY!!!

This is a day where everyone (yes, all of us) has a part in either celebrating by doing MORE to reduce, reuse and recycle OR springing into ACTION and START doing more for the environment-  as everything we do in our everyday lives affects this planet we live on.
We ALL have an individual and collective responsibility to this planet we live on.

There is a special event today
as World Environment Day has been chosen as the symbolic date for the release of 'HOME' a film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand.

'More than a movie, HOME will be a major event all over the globe: for the first time ever, a film will be released on the same day in over 50 countries'

    '
Directed by renowned Yann Arthus-Bertrand and produced by Luc Besson, HOME delivered the most beautiful and unseen landscapes of our planet captured from the above, and an objective, sincere and unbiased tribute feature to our plant. With a preparation period of up to 15 years, the production team visited 54 countries and 120 locations in one and a half year, accumulating a total shooting time of 217 days. The documentary feature will be shown in 14 languages in over 87 countries.

As the first-ever movie filming from the above, this travel book will lead us round-the-world to the most astonishing, but also wounded, landscapes, provoking an intense emotion, as a wonderful, breathtaking and unforgettable journey from the depth of the Australian coral reef to the top of the Kilimanjaro mountains, from the Amazonian forest to the desert of Gobi, from the cotton fields of Texas to the industrialized city of Shanghai… and far beyond.

But also evidencing a concrete view of the challenges our Planet has to face for a sustainable development: global warming, deforestation, the loss of biodiversity and the resources exhaustions, but also such positive developments as an increasing democracy, that of our incomes, the raise of our life expectancy and the progress of education. All our actions will have a consequence… just as a boomerang'

People in Hong Kong will be able to catch 'HOME' on TVB Pearl at 8:30pm on June 5, World Environment Day, with English and Chinese narration (by Glenn Close and Stephen Chan respectively) and Chinese subtitling.

To reach the widest audience, there will be a simultaneous, and MOSTLY FREE OF CHARGE release of this movie in every format such as movie theaters, TV, DVD and Internet~!!!

I will definitely be watching this movie, and hope you and people you spread the word to about this will too. Since a young age, I've been very passionate about causes that better the world we live in and always strive to do what I can in the areas of reduce, reuse and recycle.

When I was little my Dad was always naturally environmentally conscious so we'd always collect every bit of paper in the house for the monthly recycle mass collection and he'd always think of ways to use water more efficiently around the house etc and I've grown up following his lead. Even today, back home at Mom & Dad's, we have a little compost system in the backyard for our organic vegetables/fruit waste and Dad has built his own water re-filter system for our pool water.

Geography was one of my favorite subjects in high school in Sydney ( For my HSC, I studies 3 units of Geography, for all the people out there who knows the Aussie system), and it fascinated me to learn about the wonderful and beautiful ecosystems in different areas of the world. Beautiful reefs in the oceans, sprawling rain forests teeming with exotic species of wildlife and all the intricate micro-dynamic relationships every living species has with its immediate environment, ecosystem and ultimately, the world.

Our teacher taught us how important it is to treasure and value every inch of vegetation covering our Earth, the balance our precious animals have on the world food chain and why we all need each other...but also showed us the reality of the destructive nature of humans in our process of urbanisation and strive for economic growth. I remember I was disgusted MANY TIMES in class seeing the degree of deforestation and human encroachment into our rainforests and lands around the world, and to be frank, am STILL disgusted. I think we can ALL DO MORE to be less SELFISH in our needs.

Sure, we can't make a big difference overnight, but isn't it worthwhile to SAVE IT for future generations, like our nieces and nephews(if you're not that into kids), if not our own kids and grandkids?!?!

It's too late to think you're not affected. You can continue to kid yourself, but I'm sure some point in your life or someone close to you have suffered from bad air quality (hello, those of us in HK this week know what I'm talking about!!!) due to smog (vehicle and industrial emissions) and maybe suffered from increasing allergies and athsma compared to our grandparents generation.  Alot of this is from the pollution we've created over the years and continue to create.

People save heirlooms and family jewels to pass onto future generations, yet they don't hesitate to keep the tap running when they brush their teeth and keep lights, air-conditioning and computers running at the office. WAKE UP, PEOPLE!!!! The ENVIRONMENT and the EARTH are also things we ALL PASS ONTO OUR KIDS!!! If we crap them up, and not care about them, that's what the kiddies will get, whether you write it in your (dying) WILL or not.

Ok, that's all I'm saying for now....
Please tune in to the movie in the format you choose. I believe it'll be a fantastic and beautiful movie.

Hopefully more people will wake up and do more.

    I hope you will.

     Cheers~!!!
