Thank you for the specifics, Dr. Chiu!  I'm the kind of person that likes to ask these questions in case there's somebody that has this problem and might be trying to take a less-than-healthy approach to disposing of certain toxic items.  =)

You don't want to burn anything that has spores on it. Certain spores are heat resilent and unless you're in an incinerator, you won't be protected. Chemicals such as dioxin (hazardous to the human body) are formed by incineration/burning.
Black mold is toxic and needs to be deactivated rather than recycled or placed in a landfill. An analogy is like infected blood, you can't donate it or recycle it either.
People who are infected can be compensated heavily for this kind of problem and this is the line of work I do. We evaluate their overall health and see what the damages are. If they are feeling fatigued and tired, have difficulty breathing ... these are just some examples of possibly being affected by mold.

Dr. Chiu, what are the effects of burning a book, like in your first picture, that has black mold spores?  If it isn't burned, then what effects will it have if it is put into a landfill or if somebody tries to "recycle" it???

oh my that's terrible!  I saw a report once on mold, and it claimed that it literallly drove a man crazy.  How much of that is true, i dont know, but it's not something I ever want to deal with.

i am involved on working on toxic black mold and many people just don't realize that the spores from this organism contributes negatively to respiration, cause fever, nausea and is a precursor to developing cancer. People about to sell their homes often just put a coat of thin semi-gloss paint over the area and then the mold can't come through. The toxins are still affect the persons health and it is one of the main hidden causes of health crisis globally and is not being addressed properly. The place needs to be scrubbed and the toxic mold needs to be removed professionally by using a black mold toxin suppressant.
