“PCX” are the initials of “Plaintes contre X” (Complaint
against X), a French novel written by So. Noel (a.k.a. Sophie Noel), one
of the main artists that I’m following for my upcoming documentary “Rock ‘n’
Roll Girls”, that I started ... in september 2007 (and it still not
finished!).
"Plaintes contre X" official cover
Written two years ago (I actually read the manuscript when I started my
documentary in November 2007) and officialy out today (Yeah!), “Plaintes
contre X” is an autofiction (inspired at 90% by real events according to
the author) about a music journalist named Sonia Cribioli, who has a very excessive
lifestyle, and who’ll be struck down one
day by Multiple Sclerosis...

I will not reveal too much of the plot, but if you like stories like “Trainspotting”,
“Requiem for a Dream”, or “Spun”, you’ll probably enjoy (and be
moved) by “Plaintes contre X”. It’s raw, dark, fun, and very touching.

“Plaintes contre X” took a while to get published, because it’s
actually not only a book, but a kind of multimedia object. First of all, the text
of Sophie is illustrated by several digital art pictures created by Akasha
“Sick” Lust (ex-singer/bassist of indie rock band IKUand current
singer/composer of d.e.v.i.a.n.c.e., an electro experimental band that
she founded with So. Noel in 2007), drawing by Syl, and great photos of
Sophie, done by the talended LU.BO.

On the top of that, “Plaintes contre X” is sold with a CD soundtrack,
composed by 8 French rock or electro bands including d.e.v.i.a.n.c.e. and
IKU. That’s the reason why it was “co-produced” by a book publishing
company (Nos Editions Folles) AND a music publishing company (CICG).
Camille Gerber (CICG), So. Noel and Eric Tessier (Les Editions Folles)
One of the soundtrack song is “Doloroso Ergo Sum” (trans: I
suffer therefore I am) by d.e.v.i.a.n.c.e. I made a live video of it a
while ago, with a previous instrumental version. (The version that you’ll find
on the soundtrack has been re-recorded differently).

Check it out below (in French with english subtitles). It’s a song about the pain caused by Multiple Sclerosis.
"Plaintes contre X" is finally published after two years!
Eric Tessier - June 15th, 2009
I didn’t talk about yet, but IKU actually split since november
2008. They did their last gig at the French Rock ‘n’ Roll Spectre Night, just
after the release of the compilation “La Féline #1”. Watch the video below...
So. Noel was the drummer of IKU since December 2007 (She replaced
Céline Vannier, who was in the band since its creation in 2004),but had to stop because of her condition. She
still singing and composing in d.e.v.i.a.n.c.e.but has a new rock band
as well – still with Akasha! – named Porncake, where she’ll sings only.
I’ll finish with a “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” to So. Noel, simply
because it’s her birthday today and I wish her the best for the career of “Plaintes
contre X”.
