Born in Shanghai and trained at the Shanghai Ballet School.In 1995, Faye won the first prize and a special award at the Shanghai International Ballet Competition (Teenage Group). She represented China in tour to Korea and U.S.A. She joined the Hong Kong Ballet in October 1996 and was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2001.
Faye has danced all the leads in classics Swan Lake, Sleeping LBeauty, Giselle, The Nutaracker, Paquita, La Corsaire Pas de Deux, La Bayadere, David Allan's Cinderella, Balanchine's Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Rudi van Dantzig's Romeo and Juliet, Ronald Hynd's The Merry Widow, Antony Tudor's Jardin aux Lilas, Serge Lifar's Suite en Blanc, and Stephen Mill's Hush, Stanton Welch's Clear.
She has also had many roles created for her by a variety of choreographers; such as Stephen Jefferies's Suzie Wong, Princess Jade in The Legend of the Great Archer and Tango Ballet Tango, Natalie Weir's Turando and Madama Butterfly, Irek Mukhamedov's Valeria in Spartacus, Domy Reiter-Soffer 's Lady white in The White Snake, Wayne Eagling's The Last Emperor, Stephen Baynes's The Way Alone and David Allan's Dreams of Tenderness and Solitude.
Faye was featured in RTHK's The best 10 of the Artists in 2006 and in 2008, she was awarded the Hong Kong Dance Award by the Hong Kong Dance Alliance for her performance Juliet in Romeo and Juliet.
In 2004,she was invited to perform at the Shanghai International Ballet Competition and the International Festival of Miami. In 2005, she was nominated for the Benois de la Danse Prize for her role of Princess Jade in Legend of the Great Archer and performed The Nutcracker pas de peux at the Gala performance at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Faye was invited to perform in various international festivals, including the Vail International Dance Festival in Colorado, U.S.A. in August 2005, the Gala des Etoiles de XXle Siecle ( Star of the 21st Century ) at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris in Septerber 2006, the Charity Gala "Dancing for AIDS Orphans " at the Seishonen in Yokohama, Japan in August , 2007 and the Prague Ballet Gala in Czech Republic in January 2008.
