  • Boy Band Inspiration... Thank you Heavenly Kings!

    Sunday, Oct 28, 2007 4:31PM / Standard Entry

One of the great things about Hawaii was I was able to see "The Heavenly Kings" for my first time.  Outside of the fact that I laughed my balls off, the film served as an inspiration to pursue my lifelong dream to become part of a boy band.  The following two pictures will be our lead album covers.  The only thing left to do is to learn how to sing...which will be a serious problem since all of us are rather tone deaf.

Here's a fine pic of Dustin and I looking cool in a parking garage.  I also think we look like humanoid insects.

I understand that the sexy quotient isn't too high in this photo.  But just imagine us in white sequin vests and gold, buttless chaps...that would most certainly be hot...or make you vomit.

  • Exotic Island Love - FTG meets AnD in the Pacific Isle of Aloha

    Sunday, Oct 28, 2007 5:22AM / Standard Entry

Ahhh yes...Hawaii.  Aloha Oye!  The sheer thought of our nation's 50th state conjures up dreams of palm trees, warm, crystal blue waters, tan island girls in grass skirts and coconut brassiers, strapping island lads bursting out of their mesh loin cloths, and a whole bunch of other exotic island images that only seem to exist in Costco travel brochures.  Justin, Dustin, & I left SF last Sunday to take part in the Hawaii International Film Festival and to take on Team Alive Not Dead in a drinking contest to end all drinking contests.  The pictures below are just a few snapshots of our trip to Hawaii.  Please take not of the myriad of handsome young asian chaps.  And though I am smiling in quite a few of the pics, please do not be misled by my grins of aloha.  HIFF had me on such a crazy speaking schedule that I did not even have time to touch the island waters.  How dorky is that?  The film festival might as well have been in Iowa.  OK, enough spirit dark barf.  Please enjoy!  Mahalo my fellow fellows.

Though I did not even get to touch the waters of Hawaii, I did manage to take a photo in the men's restroom at Louis Vuitton.  It was nice.  The toilet seat even had an LV on it.  I now have an LV imprint on my ass.

Me, Andrew, Conroy, Daniel, Patrick, & Dustin.  None of us are wearing underwear...a true sign of island life and aloha

Patrick & Stephen chartered a catamaran for a fine day of aquatic exploration and sea creature watching.  I was unable to attend because of my 101 speaking engagements scheduled by HIFF.

  • San Francisco MADNESS! - Genetic Grapes of Awe! Grassroots Day 25ish

    Sunday, Oct 21, 2007 7:51AM / Standard Entry

Justin Lin wants to show you the largest, crispiest grape in the universe.  Please, take a bite...
Well, the FINISHING THE GAME grassroots tour continues on.  From D.C. to NYC to SD...we are now in SF and we are prepping ourselves for our SF/BERKLEY opening of FTG on Oct 19th.  Today Justin, Sung, Dustin and I spent the entire day doing TV and press interviews.  How a Taiwanese, Korean, Vietnamese, & Chinese guy tried valiantly for 8 hours to communicate to native, "Asian Language Speaking Only" newspaper reporters on the deeper meaning of Bruce Lee and his philosophies was beyond me.  Thank God Sung has the God-Given talent of mime...a secret that very few know about, but a talent that proved effective in our communcation pinch.

This is where Sung unveiled to the world his great mime powers.  Through bodily expression and physical gesticulations, we were able to communicate with the foreign press corp.  Please note the huge grape in Dustin's hand

But the big find of the day was the basket of rather larger than average grapes in the interview room.  Now I am a huge grape lover so seeing a vine of grapes really isn't a novel site.  However, the site of these grapes really set a new standard.  They were like oblong, baby green apples.  They were huge!  About 3 inches in length and about 1 1/2 inches wide.  How about dem apples!  But as impressive as they were visually, the flavor and texture of these grapes were even more impressive.  These grapes were just bad ass.  Crispy, super sweet, and gigantic.  My only concern is that these grapes were genetically altered...perhaps injected with some sort of herbal steroid to increase it's ingesting performance.  Oh well, I suppose we will never know.  All I can say is that Justin, Dustin, Sung, and I spent the entire press day eating these delightful fruits while watching Sung popping and locking the life of Bruce Lee to reporters.  Can't wait till we open FTG in SF and Berkeley!

There is an internet rumor that I have only 2 shirts in my entire wardrobe.  This picture proves that I have 3.  That would be the amazing Viva in between the Vietnamese and Chinese dudes.

  • Get To Know MC HAMMER, DUSTIN NGUYEN, SUNG KANG, & ROGER FAN - behind every man is a sensitive boy!

    Friday, Oct 19, 2007 12:00AM / Standard Entry

So Justin, Sung, Dustin & I just got into SF last night.  After a nice hang out session with Chi Hui Yang at Asia Society, Justin, of course, directs us straight to Chinatown for some oily Chinese food.  I must say that a Fiber One bar and oily Chinese food really do not mix.  I will not elaborate on the gastro intestinal details of the human anatomy (unless, of course, you would like me to describe a 14 hour Kang/Fan fart binge).

Below are two fun videos of MC Hammer, Dustin Nguyen, Sung Kang, and some guy named Roger Fan.  Behind every man, there was a smiling boy full of hope, joy, and love.  Feel free to get to know the baby hammer, nguyen, kang, and fan and their crazy and twisted FINISHING THE GAME characters.  Enjoy!

Get to know MC Hammer & Dustin Nguyen!  The true inner boys behind these seriously manly men.

Get to know Sung Kan & Roger Fan!  The true inner boys behind these overgrown boys.

  • Hanging with MC HAMMER, Justin's Birthday, & San Diego! - Grassroots Day 16/17/18/19

    Tuesday, Oct 16, 2007 4:24AM / Standard Entry

Ahhhh yes.  MC HAMMER.  One of the great, iconic figures of our lifetime.  A man who's very dance moves inspired a nation.  A man who's very fashion sense added 200% more fabric to men's pants.  A man who's very name redefined the image of an everyday, household tool.  A man who's very lyrics redefined what we could and could not touch.  A man who's very inspiration instructed the masses that quitting would be a violation of one's legitimate nature.  Oh yes, Hammer was in town and he joined the FTG posse at the San Diego AA Film Festival this past weekend.  BTW, if you're wondering how Hammer fits into all of this, he once wired us a bunch of money and helped save BETTER LUCK TOMORROW from financial ruin.  And, he also plays "A-List Colored People Agent", Roy Thunder, in FTG.

Chillin' with the HAMMER at the Airport Lounge in San Diego.  To legit to quit.

Yes, our grassroots tour has gone west (but FTG is still playing in NYC).  We're gearing up for our Oct 19th opening in San Francisco/Berkeley and our Oct 26th opening in Los Angeles & San Diego.  We spent a few days in San Diego, hanging with Lee Ann Kim and the rest of the SDAFF posse.  Dustin, Justin, and I spoke to 500+ students at San Diego State University on Friday.  It was crazy!  Who the heck would want to be indoors on a sunny Friday afternoon was beyond me.  But the SDSU students came out in force.  It was more Back Street Boys concert than AA speaking engagement.  Thanks SDSU!!!  You guys kick ass!

    SDSU Madness!

Thursday was also Justin Lin's Birthday.  And being the good friends that we are, the FTG family took Justin to an unforgettable birthday meal at Appleby's.  Oh yes, the all you can eat brine shrimp and baby crayfish lobster tails were to die for!  Now you must understand, Justin most generously pays for 99% of the meals whenever we are on the road and on tour.  So, the entire FTG family thought it only appropriate that we take out JLin for his day of birth.  $21.99 is a bargain for all you can eat seafood nowadays.  We all chipped in to feed the man.  The rest of us had an amazing one course meal of tap water in celebration.  Happy birthday Justin.  18 comes only once.  Embrace it!

Spit on cake is a wonderful combination.  Especially when it's the salivary droplets of birthday boy, JLin.
