Todays interview NBC Olympic coverage with Jet Li
Wednesday, Aug 20, 2008 1:51AM / Members only
So, while I was sitting on my bed getting ready for the day, I had on in the background the Olympic coverage on T.V. So, I was thinking about my day, wondering what I was going to do since I have been so busy with work and training, I thought.. hmm.. I can study some kanji's I need to learn for my Japanese Kyokushin class.. Then in the background all I hear was.. Next Jet Li, the all time Martial Artist of China.. So, I turned and started watching the interview. It was great because it did show some clips of the Beijing Wushu Team practicing.. Then a small clip of Wu Di speaking, great english too! Then Jet Li was speaking about his passion, The One Foundation. Made me happy to hear how passionate he is about giving back to his country. This made my day.
So, other than that, my sister and I are leaving on October 5th to Beijing with Master Li to spend a few days there before everyone else comes. I cant wait to go! He is going to take up to 798 studio? My sister is an artist so she asked about going to some places to take pictures to set up her portfolio so she can apply for her Masters Degree in Art. Any suggestions where else to go for some art scenes? We are up to anything!
Well, this has made my day, knowing that we will be traveling to China earlier than others and spend a few days there on our own. All I need now is to buy a video camera!

DONE!
Thursday, Jul 17, 2008 1:38AM / Members only
So, last Thursday July 10th was my last day of school, I am now officially done! I had 2 finals, first one lasted an hour and a half and the second.. 2 HOURS!! Wow.. I was pretty tired.. brain tired.. but afterwards I went to work at my new job. So, I am happy to be done, but kinda confused on the extra time I have now.
Yesterday I visited Master Li's school to purchase some shinguards for my Japanese teacher. I made another payment for my China trip and I am getting so excited about going! 3 more months and I will be on the other side of the world! I cant wait! Master Li has invited me to train on Fridays with them to learn the 3 sectional. I will surely be there early to warm up since I havent done Wushu in about a year.. Sure, I have done the Japanese stuff for about a month but that is totally different.
So, I am happy to finish school, a graduation ceremony is next month. I dont know who would attend, maybe my small family, my dad, sister.. But my Japanese friends took me out Saturday after their practice. I was happy and enjoyed the night. I got gifts, a stuffed animal I named Mr. H Dog. He looks like a large pound puppy.. haha.. I got a nice ceremiac kat from my Japanese teacher and some candles from another friend. I wasnt expecting anything and it made me happy.
Well, I got to go, I am off to a friends house to go swimming and do some bodywork then get ready for some training tonight..!!
Here is a picture of my friends.. Hiroshi.. eating too much and Osamu-San.. my teacher!

Happiness has always been there

So, I have 2 more weeks of school left and I am done. The great thing is that I already have 2 jobs! One of them I started after getting my license in Feb. But the second one just happened last week!
Thursday evening I had a cancellation and thought, hmm.. I'm going to take this time to rest. Well, I had the front desk come in and told me to get prepared since I got another one on the books. I asked for a certain room since they have the acupuncture posters up and it has been a dream to study acupuncture. We had to rearrange people so I could use the room and I waited, looking at the charts, wondering, what pattern would I use to work on someone with a shoulder problem? My client came in, a Chinese lady who specifically asked for meridian work. I was excited to get the room with the charts and some herbs sitting in the room. She then decided to tell me about looking for a therapist because her sister is moving to the east coast and has been looking for 2 months for a replacement and only has til Monday (today) to find one. So, I asked what she would like to get worked on and she said.. whole body, I want to see how you work. So, I proceeded to work on her, while she was telling me stories of her teachers and her practice, then I turned her over onto her back and started. She quickly looked up and said.. I'm going to cry, you do exactly what my sister does! You must come work for me, please! Of course, me, I start giggling and accepted her offer. After I was done working on her, she gives me her card and tells me to be there on Friday, after I was done at the Therapy Center (the school) with my clients since I was scheduled from 10am to 2pm. After my last client at the TC, I leave to go visit the Chinese lady at her office, an acupuncture clinic. I got there about 2:15, not far from the school and waited for a few minutes. She came out and took me to meet her sister, she then said, go ahead, sit in and watch her work. Learn more of the Tuina massage since its what your going to be doing here. I was so happy and excited about it! I always wanted to go deeper into learning the different techinques and hitting problem areas. So, I sat, watched, it looked like a tai chi form because of how fluid the movements were, using your body and not muscles, which most western therapist do. So, after learning some things, having to give her sister a massage and getting some things altered, but I guess not bad for someone who has only been given the basics. So, 8pm rolls around, my dad and sister are calling to find out when I am coming home. I sat with the Dr and she said, I know you want to learn acupuncture, so I am going to teach you. You are now my student so we will start going over the meridians, one a month and I will teach you basic chinese, you need to know this to get a better understanding of acupunture! I was so happy, I gave her a hug, told her I will be back on Wednesday morning to start my new job. I already have people on the books for me to work on! I cant believe it, this is something I have always wanted, working with Asian medicine and it seems like we found eachother! On my drive home, I cried, I was so overwhelmed with happiness!! I havent told others about my new job I wanted to bring it here first!
On the other note, I went to a potluck with my new Japanese friends/school. Kyokushin AZ, since I started training with them, I am happy to get a view of the Japanese, something I have always wanted since it really reminds me of my mother. Here is a couple of pics and some fun I was having trying to get some good pics.

Beauty is in everything not everyone can see it!
Take care all!

Nearing the end of a chapter

So, Starting tomorrow will be the start of my last final weeks in school to get my AAS degree. I am excited but at the same time sad. I have seen the politics in the educational system at my school and its quite weird. Lots of drama. So, my last classes are for Trigger Point Therapy and Communications. Both classes are taught by a Japanese teacher who also trains in Martial Arts. Since I have only trained and seen the Chinese style, know it, love it.. I thought I would go and watch a class of his. He mentioned that he didnt want me to watch, why watch, join the class. I went last week on Wednesday and it was a straight 1 hour and 30 minutes of basics! My gosh, I didnt know how I lasted in that class. I was kinda confused on their kicks since I am so used to doing the inside/outside cresent kicks, etc.. These we basically straight and to the point. So, I thought.. hmm.. I need to research this style.. my gosh.. Brutal.. Kyokushin Karate. Much respect for them. So, after basics I got to sit and watch their sparring class afterwards. I wanted so much to go and spar but I was told.. we dont hit girls.. So, I watched and tried to break down their system, watching their movements in their feet as well as trying to find where their weak spots are. I had a blast watching and was offered to come and train again this Wednesday evening. I cant wait, I am excited to get back into training at least.
Over the weekend I went to a friends house for a BBQ party. It was fun, but I left early since I didnt feel too well. It was okay, but I started doing massages because some people were having some problems, I cant sit there while their in pain and I know what I can do to help. So, after helping I thought it was time for me to leave since I started to get achy. Today I decided to rest my body and conserve my energy for classes and getting back into training.
Well, nothing much going on.. I hope everyone is well and safe.

Spring BreaK~!!! And installing floors
Saturday, Apr 26, 2008 4:12AM / Members only
So, last thursday was my last day of class and I had my finals for 2 classes, my Japanese Anma and Orthopedics class, both had practicals in it. The Japanese class was a case study given to us and we had 30 minutes to figure out the case, which meridian line to work and 15 min to work on the patient. It was pretty fun and I was excited to do it. I then found out that my friend and I were the only ones who did the whole thing with no help but the rest of the class had help from the teacher, he had to tell them what to do. So.. I passed!! Orthopedics class was pretty tough. It was 25 written answers and 25 orthopedics test we had to perform on a client. I PASSED!! I think that was pretty hard, having to memorized all orthopedics tests, knowing what they are for and any contraindications. So, after my test on Thursday I called a friend over and we started tearing out the carpets in my dads house. My dad wants to put in floors and get rid of the carpets. Ah.. well, in our family, my dad has all daughters. 3 of them are married and my sister and I are single. One of my sisters came down for the weekend with her family and helped installing the floors, she had to leave Sunday for work on Monday. That did leave me to place the floors in the remaining rooms left. So, after having to tear out all the carpets in the whole house, (only me and my friend) the thing is having to clear everything out and cut out the carpets and take out the tacks on the sides that hold the carpet. I was pretty tired only had my friend help for Thursday night, Friday and Saturday and Sunday I was left to complete it myself. I got it done but my hands, arms low back were sore and tired. I got alot of cuts on my legs from the nails. So, while I was getting this done, my sisters husband and her daughter boyfriend started on the floors in my sisters room and the hall, then the next day they did my room and the hall, part way. They left after that since she had a 5 hour drive back home to the reservation. Monday I started on our computer room and completed it that Monday. I cant believe it took a whole day to finish that room! So, Tuesday I finally took a rest day, cleaned up, washed clothes for myself and my dad, replaced all furniture back in the computer room to set all computers back up. Wed I rested and started our dining room to get it ready for work, I had to take out the baseboards and nails, trying to salvage them to reuse.. Trying to go GREEN! So, it was late, I decided to wait for Thurs to finish the room to prepare it for floors.. My friend decided to come and help in my dads room to put the floors in since it was already cleaned and ready to start. We go part way and have to wait to finish. We cleaned up, got ready and went to an acupuncture seminar and met the acupuncturist and mentioned a friend I knew and said that he would help me start learning about acupuncture!! I'm so excited!! I cant wait!! So, today I slept in, my body is sore, tired and hurt from all the bangs, cuts from the weeks worth of labor. I was too determined to get this done and now look at me.. lol.. ah.. well, at least I didnt procrastinate.. My friend is on his way over to help complete my dads room! What a great friend, he had to ask his wife if he could come and help! Here is what we done.. I hope to finish by this weekend so my last week of my spring break is an actual break! haha.. I cant believe I can put in floors!!! Have a great weekend!!
