  • Halloween Insanity + City of Nites

    Saturday, Oct 31, 2009 2:15AM / Standard Entry / AnD-specific

You may have gotten a message from Admin bear a little while ago.  We closed all the ticketing for the Halloween Party.  Even though we closed presale at noon today,  we sold upwards of 500 tix!   Couple that with a really strong showing from artists and our partners,  the guestlist is way way way high...

so we realized it would be unfair and unwise (and probably unsafe!) to promise people we could still sell tickets at the door.  So in the interest of being fair to the people who paid in advance to guarantee they could enter,  we decided to not do sales at the door.  Hopefully not too many people are pissed

(better to piss of a few johnny-come-latelys who haven't bought anything than to have to issue refunds and apologies to your strongest supporters and friends who prepaid!) :-P

Halloween night will DEFINITELY be hectic... but hopefully everyone will get in and have a good time.

In the meanwhile,  let me use this opportunity to give an early shout out to NEXT week's big event,  the first of five 'City of Nites' events that alivenotdead.com is hosting at local venues. City of Nites has a profile here -

    cityofnites

Go check it out and leave a welcome comment or two! ;-)

The cool thing about this is that its not just a series of events, its also a series of products (its a bit of an experiment for us!)  We teamed up Prodip Leung to make a series of Tee's... should be pretty cool.  We rush ordered the first Tee to give away a few at the Halloween party.  I don't want to show the design yet, so it'll just be a teaser:
    WTF is it?!?

What ever you think that is,  you're definitely wrong, absolutely no way to guess it. :-D

  • quick Halloween update

    Tuesday, Oct 27, 2009 12:20PM / Standard Entry

For those of you not in HK or who are otherwise living under a rock,   you may not be aware we are doing our big "Dead Not Alive" Halloween party again this year.

(yes, you guessed it, i've been growing my beard out all year so I can dress up like the wolf man and reenact this picture...)

Last year's party was CRAZY (both Crazy fun and Crazy overcrowded and logistically a nightmare).   This year will hopefully be more crazy fun and less logistically crazy.  The venue this year is much better though - Zuma.  Its bigger, nicer and much easier to get to (NEAR LKF, but not IN LKF).

The turnout of artists and friends and party people will also be very good.  We have about 100 people PREPAID already!

I encourage you to pre-buy your ticket here online to save a bit of time getting in.  Hopefully we won't hit capacity of the venue too quickly, but I encourage you to prebuy tix and get there early to minimize delays as much as possible!

For those who missed my pics from last year's party (did I mention it was CRAZY?) here's some links to  MY pics from the 2008 'Dead Not Alive' Halloween Party:

  • Yes, that's right, when it comes to Sex Workers, I'm a VIP!

    my favorite event sticker ever:
One of those stickers they put on you at premieres.  Its from the premiere of Race's movie last year.  I snapped this pic when i pealed it off my drawers when we moved office a few weeks back.

Its from the movie 'True Women For Sale'... but in Chinese the title is 'Xing Gong Zuo Zhe 2' (the follow up to Herman Yau's 2007 film about the sex industry with the English title 'Whispers and Moans').

The Chinese title means literally 'Sex Worker' though.   The funny thing about this sticker was,  after the premiere I forgot to take it off the sleave of my hooded Nike zip-up jacket.  The next day I wore the same jacket to work on the subway... when I arrived at the office I noticed I still had the sticker on my arm...   and had just passed like 5000 people on the way to work with the words 'Sex Worker' and 'VIP' emblazoned on my arm...

    :-P

anyway, quick blog.  very busy this weekend... next week will be even worse w/ halloween coming...  don't expect a lot of long, interesting blogs anytime soon.  :-(

  • More Filming in Hong Kong

    Friday, Oct 23, 2009 8:30PM / Standard Entry / Hong Kong

On Tuesday night I was running down to meet a friend and I passed a film crew in the mid-levels part of HK.  I didn't recognize anyone like I did the last time with Teresa Mo,  but I took pics anyway:
they were filming a couple sitting in a car.

    nice wheels.

Anyone know what this was for?
