(1/29/08): We finally figured out which scandalous celebrity photos Peachey was talking about...OOO, 陳 冠 希 「 淫 照 」 曝 光
For those who haven't heard, someone sold some compromising photos (淫照) to the press... basically Edison Chen and some notable female stars engaging in compromising acts... wow that was NOT a good idea....

Much legal action is taking place... I won't post anything more than little bit here for the sake of the actresses involved...
Note to all stars - don't leave any sex act photos or videos on your cell phone or digital camera! (and maybe take the drunken party ones out too for good measure!)
Actually a good idea for everyone, including non-celebs... especially considering how easy it is to lose a cell phone or small digital camera. you never know who might find it and look through.
There was this one time I was looking at my friend's new phone... I wanted to see how the media player was... and I accidentally happened upon something I shouldn't have seen... very disturbing! (I could never look at him and his gf the same way again... )

UPDATE 2: oh god, there's more! its obvious these are captures from a video... i'm sure it'll be coming out sooner or later. just a matter of waiting for the other shoe to drop. :-(
UPDATE 3 (2/1/08): There have been more released in the past few days since I originally posted this, including 'solo' pictures of a third very well known actress in various explicit poses. (at least its not 'in the act'). I'm probably the only one in the world who's not going to name the actresses, but its easy to find out from the news if you haven't heard yet.
Apparently the consensus is that someone probably copied the photos off of Edison's hard drive while he was getting his computer repaired. Apparently by using overseas sites to distribute them, he or she has made it somewhat hard to trace and definitely impossible to eradicate.
In the last few days this stuff has completely taken over the news stands (particularly the weekly rags). Originally there was a fear that more actresses would be included in the 'scandal', some magazines put out covers with lots of names and pictures of all the famous Hong Kong actresses/singers who have been 'linked' to Edison over the years, speculating that they may be the next... the list was in double digits. But so far only its been limited to three....
Even the English newspapers have been covering the issue.... I was bemused to see 'The Standard' initially refer to them as 'doctored photos', i think most of them have stopped pretending...
BTW, Here's their latest update... including the arrest of someone who apparently is guilty of nothing that 3-4 million other people in HK haven't also done. Despite the serious issue, the article is funny for the photo at least.
Actually that is nothing, there are a LOT of parody photos have been floating around the net too, fake advertisements for abalone (鮑魚) and Chinese sausage(臘腸)... (tasteless but sometimes funny).
In our office we have had a sex scandal of our own. This case of attempted assault:

UPDATE 4 (2/3/08): just to keep everyone in the loop - things are still going and its still all over the news and watercooler talk... today from a quick scan of the web and talking to friends, there are just a lot of random rumors flying around, some people are saying there's videos floating around and up to 60 pictures, of up to like 10 different well known actresses/singers, i have seen one which purports to show a singer putting her clothes on, but no idea who took that or what.... there's also news in Mainland papers that another extremely popular cantopop singer is in a new batch of photos (but these may be fakes). And former Edison girlfriend w/ a single letter last name is now apparently involved, although they say the anonymous poster is saving these for last (since she's an international film star now...)
Edison also wrote on his blog that he was going to issue a press release, but this apparently hasn't happened yet.
we'll see in a day or two... the cops have arrested more people for reposting, but of course these guys are just patsies. :-P
