Gaaaaaaaaaah! I totally forgot you're from Cincinnati! I was just there last week Thursday and Friday! I kept thinking, "I know someone in this town, don't I?" then couldn't remember who and deciding I was imagining things... Gah! (again) We could'a met for dinner at Skyline or something. I was in town as part of a whirlwind family vacation. We hit Wild Africa Safari Park, the Cincinnati Zoo, Kentucky's Mammoth Cave and a couple locations in Indiana before heading back home to MI. Gaaaaaaah!

    Thanks for the birthday wishes.

I'm glad you liked the FTG scenes.  Yeah, it's a pity they weren't in the film.  Oh well.. It was a good experience training for the part, though.

Last couple articles I did here, I got a small honorarium... debating over whether or not to really develop my freelance writing. It was easy enough to get paid for it in China without having the most rigorous standards b/c it wasn't a western audience.

I just went to your website for the first time since I first met you, and I did a quick skim of the Tze Chun interview. It looks fantastic. I'm going to go back and read it more carefully...

    Hi Elena,
Thanks so much for taking the time to read the article and for your kind remarks! I guess being connected to a Korean in family, this would naturally come out in your work. Congrats on being done with grad school, and good luck on all your writing too!

Oh I hope that works out for you in the Fall.  All's good in my world.  Ramped up the job search recently and also meeting with headhunters.  Also got my photo portfolio together and networking for photography work.

my daughter is setting up a wordpress site and that is seemingly not blocked in China. I also finally got a personal VPN since I no longer work in a global corporation to get around things like the block on Youtube in China.
Yes , it seems China blocks everything.
stupid Chinese censors do not realize that they stop nothing and only create unrest when they censor communication.
It is easy to get around the foolish blocks by the censors. :-)

Ooooo...age-related birthday humor!  You're too kind, really.  haha!  I received a birthday card that read, "A friend is someone who always remembers your birthday....and not your age!"

Thanks, Elena, for the birthday wishes!  Without awesome people like you, my birthday would have been a total flop!  ::hugs::

Sure, It's interesting reading what other people think.  I'm a little more hard on the issue since I'm more from an outsider's perspective.

From what I understand, it's way more complicated an issue than writers (of any race) creating more Asian or minority characters. After all the collaborative process of film making ensures that the script details will evolve as the creative processes change hands.

I really have faith that the Asian community will eventually penetrate into the mainstream, albeit a lengthy process. Thanks for contributing to the cause! =)

(I have to state that I'm not based in the US, so it's kinda an outsider opinion. In the event whereby anyone feels offended by my opinion, I'm more than willing to apologize.)

hey babe, thanks for your comment on my blog.

Interestingly, this topic came up a lot while I was in the US, especially since everyone I met was either Asian-American or connected to the Asian-American community somehow. I personally feel that it's not fair to expect fantastic Asian-American roles to be created by other ethnic groups, and it takes the entire Asian-American film community (writers, directors, producers, crew, etc... ) to make that happen. Might take a while to happen, but it's definitely very possible.

    What do you think?
