On the writing front, I am starting my first freelance piece for Soapbox Cincinnati on, of all things, the Asian Community Alliance. Looking forward to it. Soapbox is a business publication that highlights the positives of our city. I'll be sure to link. I am still working on the second draft of Territory, but I'll be able to devote more to it when the matter below is resolved....

On the teaching front, I have two job interviews in the next week. Tomorrow, I have a first interview for music teacher at an inner-city elementary school. Tuesday, I have a second interview for a choral directorship at a rural/suburban high school.

The high school position includes show choir. Anyone seen the teaser for the new Fox series, Glee? I am gleeful about this series. It would be trippy to be living out the show like this. Below is "Tina," an interesting Asian character.

I would be happy with either position. I can see artistic and personal advantages/disadvantages to both. Wish me the best.

As Roger Fan pointed out, I'm the first person from Cincinnati repping on AnD. Word! I'm a writer, connected to the Asian-American community through my Korean-born husband, our two hapa sons, and my lifelong interest in Asian cultures.

My work has appeared in periodicals, advertising, and children's curriculum, and I do a lot of writing for the web, but my dream is a career in film. I'm working on getting my first screenplay into production, and I have more ideas in the works as well. Creating good roles for Asian-American actors is something that's really important to me. I feel fortunate to give exposure to talented Asians in film by writing movie reviews for their films.

I blog for NINGIN, the Asian Media Exchange website. There you'll find the latest news and views on a variety of Asian and Asian-American artists. My interviews with Sung Kang, Roger Fan, and other fabulous people are posted at http://elena.ningin.com. When my work appears online, I might post a link to it on my AnD blog so you can check it out. But this is to add to your AnD experience, not direct traffic away from here. There's no place like AnD! (I say, with red shoes tapping...). Besides, my work is copyrighted by the sites I contract with, so I'm just keeping it legal.
