Acting workshops for Adults
Monday, Oct 19, 2009 7:30PM
Wednesday, Dec 16, 2009 7:30PM
Location:SHEUNG WAN
Region:Hong KongContact:HK Theatre Association Ltd2537 8066Category:Music/ArtsNotes: We offer three ten-week courses each year. One course starts in October ending around middle of December. Our second course runs starting in January with final performances towards the end of May and the beginning of June. Each course is made up of a series of intensive workshops led by our professional Acting coaches. They mix physicality, voice, renowned techniques, theatrical exercises & games, classical and original texts to create dynamic theatre.
The workshops take a concentrated, in depth look at approaching texts and characters. The actors work on their vocal skills, improvisation and the impact that their own physicality brings to the stage. The course explores the talents that each individual has as an actor and theatre maker.
The group is never bigger than 16 students with one teacher. This makes each three hours workshop extremely intensive and productive. Outside of class the students are encouraged to meet independently to work on their scenes, study and learn texts and explore writing their own material.
The course builds to a performance for an invited audience on the last evening. The performances attract an ever-growing public and have become an annual get together for the French and English speaking Communities in Hong Kong.

'TALK RADIO' - The play that inspired the Oliver Stone film...

Location:FRINGE THEATRE - CENTRAL
View mapAddress:2 Lower Albert Road, Ground FloorRegion:Hong KongContact:HK Theatre Association Ltd2537 8066Category:PerformanceSynopsis: TALK RADIO By Eric Bogosian A Dark American Satire ‘’Talk Radio is a 1987 Pulitzer Prize-nominated play written by Eric Bogosian, based on a concept by Bogosian and Tad Savinar. It centres around Barry Champlain, a Cleveland-area radio talk-show host on the eve of his radio show's national syndication. Champlain is a provocateur shock-jock, whose constant espousal of his inflammatory views and ceaseless hectoring of his callers and listeners reaps equal parts love and hate. Thousands of listeners tune in every night for his rants against contemporary America and the riotous insults he throws at callers. But on the other side of the microphone, the line between persona and personality becomes blurred. The play becomes less about the program and focuses more on the inner struggles of its host and how he has become incapable of connection beyond his phone lines, beyond the persistent calls of his eccentric, foolish, often adoring, often despising but never indifferent, listeners – beyond the people who allow Champlain to, as his operator explains, think of himself as God.’’

Testimonials:
“These past two days working with Jeanne Hartman was a wonderful experience. When you have the tools Jeanne gave us, it will definitely make you more confident when attacking a difficult scene or even an audition.” Andrew Lin
“JEANNE! YOU ROCK! Jeannie's teaching was so accurate, this class has given me lots of answers to my questions for so long in my acting career. This was a very important lesson for me, it's shown me the right mindset on acting and script acknowledgement and so much. I'm so excited about my next film project which will start shooting in a week, I think I'll do so much better!” Josie Ho
“It was a great time experimenting as well as watching my other classmates work as well. It's kind of like a good personal training session at the gym for actors. It's not often that actors in Hong Kong get a chance to attend things like these. Even if you aren't thinking about being a professional actor this workshop can help you with other things like public speaking and boosting your confidence and it's a whole lot of fun too!” Daniel Wu
“I am really happy I took part in this course and would recommend this course to anyone who is interested to learn more about acting. Jeanne is a wonderful teacher and it is obvious to me that she teaches acting in a way that empowers you to have more confidence in the choice you make for your performance. There are not many good acting teachers in Hong Kong, and to be able to work with a coach of Jeanne's caliber in Hong Kong is a rare opportunity.” Terence Yin
“I am still feeling the BUZZ from the acting workshop taught by master acting coach Jeanne Hartman. Jeanne was knowledgeable, incredibly insightful and inspirational. She made us realise that we all have our unique styles and there are always ways to look at a scene differently and things we can do to OWN the scene and make it OURS with certain 'tools' and 'secrets'. THANK YOU so MUCH Jeanne, for being so amazingly supportive and so willing to show us what is possible in each of us as actors. I will always treasure this class and the inspiration it has given me. I will take what I have learnt and power it into my future works. Only wish you had more time in HK to keep coaching us!!!” Grace Huang
“Thank you Jeanne !!!! You know you're amazing don't you? That you have some special powers to give people SECRETS we don't even know we have.” Race Wong
“Whether you have already had some acting training or none at all, Jeanne will teach you fundamental principles upon which to build a solid technique. I had such a fabulous time working on scenes with all my fellow actors. It was such a great learning experience to have my work critiqued by Jeanne "in the open" and given "trial and error" to approach the scene with different points of view, aspect, emotion, purpose, finding the potholes, methods and the "secret".” Rosanne Wong
“Jeanne helped me re-discover myself ! Life is all about acting.....acting is living....” Jun Kung
