Public Enemies recently premiered on July 1st, and LBP collaborator Alexander Hashioka-Oatfield is featured in a small stunt during a prominent scene in the film.
In the scene, FBI Agent Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale) has located John Dillinger's (Johnny Depp) hideout at the Little Bohemia Lodge in Wisconsin and is attempting an overnight ambush. However, a hasty ambush by the FBI leads to a violent shootout in the woods between Dillinger's gang and the FBI.
Alex is inside the car in this clip, as it's being ambushed and shot. Click below to view in HD!
Finally, though it's been all said and done and there is a memorial service, I'm not one to say much for Michael Jackson. That being said, I will say much like everyone else, he inspired me to dance, to think freely, and to enjoy life and music and sound for what it is. I remember him for the artist and musician as he was, and not perhaps what he was as a person. Not knowing him personally, this has no effect on me other than he was an amazing artist, and probably at heart, was an amazing person. People are flawed, so are you. Get over it. Move on and and become the person you should want to be, not the person that sits and complains about others.
I leave you then with two things that I listened to on the day of his death:
American Parkour.Com has featured my video that I created for National Parkour Day on their website! It's
currently featured on the main front page of the site, and thanks to
Ryan Cousins, is now up on the American Parkour Youtube Channel. You
can view the article here:
June 6th, 2009, was officially National Parkour Day, and many Parkour
and Freerunning teams across the U.S. held jams in all the major
cities. Aero Chicago Parkour held their own jam at the University of
IL-Chicago, and though weather conditions made things a bit slippery at
times, the vigilant traceurs continued jamming throughout the day.
Though I could only stay for about 3 hours, I managed to get alot of
amazing footage, and hopefully give people a glimpse of how close the
Parkour/Freerunning community is in the Chicago land area. So I hope
you enjoy!
What a frantic, frantic week it's been. How ironic, the turn of events as of late.
So to quickly recap, I've been superbly busy at work, picking up more hours (which is great for my bank account, but not for my mind, which has me dealing with MORE silly customers than I got used to) as of late, I've been attempting to edit what's been newly shot of my film, and also updating the LBP Wiki, and lastly, Kana came into town this past week and is leaving back to Osaka, Japan for 2 months tomorrow.
Sigh, Sigh, Sigh.
So lots of random great news and random setbacks. Recently, some of my LBP guys have had to put training in the back burner because of personal issues (nothing big, just life, you know?) and also our training space of 3 years is now defunct, as the administration doesn't allow visitors unless you pay and know a current student attending the space. So that sucks.
But like I said, I'm working a ton more, it's getting warmer (so more parkour time! yes!) and keeping myself busy either way.
On monday Kana and I went to see "Up!" in 3D and it was AWESOME. If any of you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it, seeing as you get spiffy glasses like these with it:
In all seriousness, Up is AMAZING. It's very heartfelt, a great feel good movie, and all around a ton of fun. Another Pixar classic.
On that same night, we stopped by my buddy Ryan's house to watch "The Lion King" for the weekly movie night he's been having at his place. That was also awesome.
Finally, last night Kana and I watched "Departures", which is the Oscar winner for best foreign film. I saw it last fall, before it was nominated, and seeing it again after a couple of months, that film is In-cred-i-ble. Truly such a deeply layered and emotionally filled movie, with lots of great humor and great storytelling. I highly urge people to watch it if they haven't yet. The trailer for it is below:
Back in 2007, Steve James of Komelion Productions, Inc. contacted me about a web series he was producing, directing, and starring in called "Assignment 47".
I went out and helped Steve, action directing the fight shot for the first episode as well as editing it, and helping to train Steve in film fighting. The action sequence in the first episode features LBP member Jessie Bayani and good friend Jon L. Brody.
Yet it would take nearly 2 more years for the web series to finally premiere it's first two episodes, which you can view on the newly debuted site for Assignment 47 here:
The site so far has the first 2 episodes up, info about the story, cast, and crew, as well as other extra features, and will be constantly updated as time goes on, debuting more episodes and info about the production.
The fight scene in the first episode is cut short for story reasons, but you can view the fight in it's entirety here:
