Many of you have asked me what do I do with my NOT so...free time...
I honestly have no idea because I don't have free time :-( However, if I really want to do something, I will make the time, even if it mean cut down my 4 hours of sleep every night . Lately, my frequent date is with the new Playstation 3. A friend hooked me up with one prior to the US official release this month just so I can enjoy my little toy before everyone else...and because well, it's now sold out everywhere. After many many hours of "testing" the PS3, I'm toying with the idea of going back to being a game programmer. The gaming industry is definitely not what it used to be years ago and I must say I'm very impressed with this solid console and gosh the games are just too good. I usually like racing & fighting game but since the console came bundled with Metal Gear Solid which is a tactical action (one person shooter) type of game I think; I try it out anyway. The graphic is amazing and I like the concept that the game is like a movie itself. I find myself enjoy it too much, almost too addictive for my own good. I tried a few more games and the experience is so far enjoyable enough that I actually consider this is a "research" for my next career move.... May be it's about time I return the phone call to set up an interview with EA perhaps?
Oops, too exciting about the games, almost forgot to mention, this is the best value if you're looking for a Blu-Ray player as well; price much lower than a decent B.R. player but offer much more flexibilities and features. Blu-Ray is Sony's technology, might as well buy from the source. Also, it's clearly the best companion for Hi-Def TV. I'm watching Pixar Short Films collection as I type this blog and I'm speechless....let just say it's AWESOME. Ratatouille looks much better on my TV than it's in the theater... Yup, it's that good :-)
Lastly, I now can browse the Web in the comfort of my couch using my TV and PS3 console and watch youtube video (a little blurry) without my laptop. Best of all, I can also play all my movies from the 5 Terabyte media server sitting in my office that house hundreds of my collection of dvds, music, photo, etc through the wireless network, no disc sitting around, no mess, no clean up...Gosh, I do sound like a dork am I :-) I'm a dork with a new cool toy...hehehe.
Some "techie" notes:
Came equips with Bluetooth, wireless, Ethernet, HDMI output, optical digital audio output (SPDIF), and PlayStation AV output for analog audio and video, 4 USB, etc. and Memory Stick, SD Memory Card, CompactFlash Card (just in case 80GB internal hard drive is not enough for ya) but I'm using it as a digital media hub so shouldn't be hard to connect couple external data storage unit to it :-) Thank you Sony!!!
Blu-ray format offer the
high-density discs provide much more storage space (will need that for more complex games) than those of Sony's
competitors; Blu-ray discs max out at 50GB and can theoretically go to
100GB or 200GB, while the Xbox 360 and Wii
use standard DVDs, which top out at a comparatively cramped 8.5GB.
Online gaming service is frozen on me most of time, very annoying :-( Built-in browser is relatively good, could be a lot better if Sony can sit down with Adobe to figure out Flash version. I love the massive supports for music and photo format and built-in interface is not at all bad.
It's a WINNER!!!
These are photo I took while playing Blu-Ray disc. Yup, taking photo of what playing on the TV and picture still look that amazing; imagine you're sitting in front of the television :-)
