    (Frasier - 1993 - 2004)

I was glad when they were still airing the reruns.

He's a babbling middle-aged psychiatrist with his own issues, and he's surrounded with equally neurotic people both at home and in the workplace. I swear most of us can relate to them regardless of where we're from or what our individual lifestyles are like...I mean...who does not have issues, right? Much less, who among us are not surrounded with quirky, (this is subjective, but hey, to each his own ) contrary friends and/or family members.

What keeps us sane? I have no idea, but it must be this will to live and move on towards another day, with another chance to undo mistakes or make more of those. Either way, don't forget to laugh my friends. Cliche as this sounds...and as Frasier would put it, it's still the best medicine.

I haven't written anything non-medical lately. Review classes are still on-going, and the stress level is getting higher as our countdown to the board exams continues. I sometimes reach the point of being nauseated at the thought of yet another day of lecture. But hey, I wanted this in the first place, didn't I? (points finger at self)   Sometimes I just want to break away from talks of diseases and treatments.

As I scanned back on my blogs here, I noticed how I projected my great need for enlightenment, positivity, and anything that can elevate my soul, body and mind to reasonable heights. Compensatory, I would say. But I still want those things and more...anything as long as I can be productive and reasonably happy in the end.

Moving on.....as my favorite Korean tv heroines would say....Aja!

(Would want to blog when I don't feel as stressed out much later, though).

I miss my two pups back home, they were given by my aunt who knew I love those "kiddies". Too bad I didn't get to take pics of them. This cutie I'm posing with is my cousins' poodle Caicai, taken days before I got my own bundles o' fun.

Like being on a beach, or hearing a great song, I find an instant source of energy when I play with pets. I guess this is nothing new to pet owners, who I'm sure would attest to the uplifting feelings they enjoy when surrounded with living beings who depend on them for survival, and in turn gives off priceless positive vibes, especially when their personalities match their own. Oh yes, I've read about such stuff. lol. As a general finding, it's been said that dog-lovers usually have this open and friendly outlook, while cat persons are more disciplined and affectionate. Reptile-lovers are said to be the most independent- minded of all pet owners. I'd like to think I am friendly, as well as disciplined and indendent-minded. lol. But I can't have all these animals as pets, can't I?

Positive vibes...just what I need right now.    And wishing this  for everyone here as well.

What the Beach Test Says About You
You tend to be a very social person. You live for your friends and family. You can get social burnout occasionally though. You aren't a total extrovert.

You fall in love with ease and confidence. Even if you've had bad experiences in the past, each new love is a reason to start completely over.

You are deeply passionate about several things in your life. You're not passionate about much... and the few passions you have are truly obsessions.

Your sense of humor is very physical. Your facial expressions or spot on imitations of people are hilarious.

     ------------------

This one is right on about obsessions....I have to admit, I can get pretty obsessive...about stuff. lol. I do laugh about my own quirks though, but sometimes I can get carried away with some things. I guess that's one of the reasons I find meditation helpful, otherwise I'd probably have lost my sense of balance then.

  • Living In the Moment

    Friday, Aug 1, 2008 11:30AM / Members only

Disclaimer: This is not an official book review. lol. Just another existential sort of entry from yours truly.

I was scanning books from my roommate's stack and found some to be of value (aside from using them as alternative "tranquilizers" when I want to dose off to sleep)  as I want an occasional break from the medical books that surround my periphery almost the whole day.

I am still amazed at times at how timely or lucky I can be at finding books, events AND people who are inclined with the things and life queries that I am currently experiencing. It's like having known certain individuals from a previous life or something, that it just is natural for us to connect, talk and discuss about things both mundane and a bit on the soul-searching genre. I need not explain myself in great detail to these people yet they can get me and I, them... and this gives me a thrill deep down that I can't contain.  I feel grateful still.

Here's a passage I found in one of these books that  is simply presented...about living in the present moment that we are in:

"When we want to work with our own Inner Nature and with the natural laws operating around us, we reach the level of Wu Wei. Then we work with the natural order of things and operate on the principle of minimal effort. Since the natural world follows that principle, it does not make mistakes. Mistakes are made- or imagined- by man, the creature with the overloaded Brain who separates himself from the supporting network of natural laws by interfering and trying too hard."

-- Benjamin Hoff  (The Tao of Pooh)

    ------

So if anything does not feel natural at all, then it might be safe to say that our soul just won't allow it to be incorporated into our life at the present moment, a sort of warning sign that some things need to flow the way it should flow, not the way we Think it should. I wanted to blog about this as I want to live this lesson as much as I want to share it with my online friends here.

    Stay happy everyone!
