  • Ping Pong Playa opens LA Asian Pacific film festival on May 1st

    Tuesday, Apr 8, 2008 5:27PM / Standard Entry

    Hi Everyone

If you are going to be in LA on May 1st, please come and support Ping Pong Playa.
This is Jessica Yu's (Oscar winning documentary director) feature directorial debut. Jimmy Tsai, who is the star ( as C Dub) of the film, is both the writer and lead actor . This is also his debut as a writer and actor - what a power house collaboration! This movie tackles themes about rites of passage, following one's dream versus familial obligation and Asian American identity -  a guaranteed a fun ride. I am lucky enough to play Mrs. Wang, C Dub's "Ex Ping Pong Champion" mom. Please visit http://www.vconline.org/festival/ for more info. Hope to see you there!

  • Happy April Fool's Day

    Monday, Mar 31, 2008 3:53PM / Standard Entry

Is it April already? Didn't we just celebrated CNY? Time sure flies. Perhaps I am having too much fun. Have been teaching a lot lately. It was refreshing to see the passion and commitment of these young actors - so focus on their dreams. I feel like they are teaching me more than I am teaching them. Look forward to reuniting with a group of amazing childhood friends in Scotland in October -  my dear "HK lo yau gehs"  from MSS days. So it's only April... happy April fools day everyone!

  • Thanksgiving in New York

    Thursday, Nov 29, 2007 3:36PM / Standard Entry

November was a great time to be in New York, especially upstate New York. I stayed with my sister and her family  for a few days in Westchester. I was truly mesmerized by the beautiful fall colors  -  the  breath taking collage of  red, brown, yellow and  pale green trees, just like a live Monet painting.  My nephews and nieces are all so tall and grown up. Where did time go?  It seemed they were just toddlers yesterday. I spent the rest of my visit with my husband's family in Redding Connecticut. Driving around the suburban treelined winding roads where both sides were sparsely adorned by huge rustic houses in the cool weather really makes me want to come back to New York again. To top it off, my quick dinner visit to the West Village in Manhattan one evening brought back such rich memories... After all, Washington Square was the place where I took my first walk with my husband of 14 years on our first date...
