I would like some advice...not sure what to do right now.

So I got into the last rounds of interview for Liberty Mutual ~ the only problem?  DRIVING!

They are prepared to buy me tickets to Boston, where they will provid a rental car for me to drive to their headquarters (in New Hampshire).  I have my driver's license....but I haven't driven since I passed the test (8 months ago).  Nor have I ever driven on a highway, and the trip from Boston to NH is about an hour on a highway.

Is it okay to tell them that I can't drive?  Or just stick it out and just drive?

If I actually get the job though, I will have to drive (I was just thinking to practice when I actually have to move out there...)

Will this affect my chances of being hired?

    EDIT://
Thanks to everyone for the advice.  I listened to pretty much what everyone said and told them that I wasn't comfortable with driving.  Luckily, they told me that there's a bus that goes from Boston to NH so I'll be taking that.  I'm excited for this interview ~ and hope that I find a job.  I would LOVE to stay at home for work ~ but it seems that there are more opportunities outside of the city.

If anyone knows of anything in the area of IT/Web Development ~ feel free to contact me!  =D

It's good that you told them that you aren't comfortable with driving and it's nice there's an alternative to it.
Good luck with the interview!!! Wish you the best!

1 more thing. After the interview, send them a thank you card. It should show your consideration of how greatful you are for them having them give you a interview. Also it makes a good impression too. Could land you a job.

im just kidding. maybe you should tell them the truth so they think you're responsible, independant and care about your life.  maybe they'll get u a taxi.  besides, going with dad is embarassing

Your dad will meet you at Boston Airport, then drive you to interview, haha!!! You're just like me, your grandmom went to interview with me in HK, do you remember ??

pat: yo imma come up by myself.  we'll road trip together. sound good? we'll figure it out when we get onto the highway and take turns

Yep, like Peachie said. But then of course, why is it that you haven't driven since you passed the test? Maybe you don't need to, but in my area, it's a must otherwise, there's no way of me getting to places that I need.

I think if you're not comfortable, just tell them the whole situation, don't blow it out of proportion, I think you get the picture.

At least tell them that you're willing to learn and get comfortable with driving. They'll only not consider you if you're not willing to learn and or try. Too many obstacales = less chance of being hired.

yea I agree with what everyone have said so far... =) and I totally understand your situation b/c I'm pretty much the same as you except for the part about finding a job... I got my license last June but I haven't drove a car alone before so that's why I'd prefer a job close / easily accessible by bus... =) I think it's understandable...

I would explain the situation to them rather than try to drive if I were you.  Safety first!  Sounds promising since you're going through so many rounds of interviews.

My position at work was eliminated last week.  I'm so happy to be unemployed!  Crazy but true.

hmm i wouldn't drive if i was uncomfortable.. it's kinda dangerous.. so just tell them you prefer to take the train or bus.. it's understandable

I'd be upfront and tell them you're not comfortable with driving since you're still a newbie at it. Seems safer than trying to negotiate a highway on your own. I don't think they'll ding you for that. And better to tell them sooner than later.
