  • Chinese Fans mob him thinking he is Phelps

This video is so funny.  Everyone thought he is Michael Phelps! (*LOL*) But this guy was also one great swimmer before...

His name is Stephen (Steve) Parry, a former British middle-distance swimmer. He competed internationally in 100-metre and 200-metre butterfly distances.  He won the Junior European Championship at the age of 17.  He won a bronze medal, which is Britain's first Olympic swimming medal in eight years, at the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics in 200-metres butterfly, being beaten by Michael Phelps and Takashi Yamamoto (山本貴司) of Japan. Phelps had beaten him into 4th place at Sydney four years earlier.

Parry retired from competitive swimming in 2005.  After retiring, he briefly hosted programme on BBC Radio Merseyside before joining BBC TV Sport as part of their team covering the swimming at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

So he is definitely someone you should grab an autograph or photo with, but not if you are expecting Michael Phelps!

  • BATH-B-Q in Burger King

XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) - Some workers at a Greene County restaurant are in hot water with the health department, after an employee took a bubble bath in a store sink.

It happened at the Burger King on Orange Street in Xenia.

A four-minute video posted on MySpace captured the employee, self-described as Mr. Unstable, bathing nude in a large stainless steel sink as several other employees and a store manager looked on.

The video began making its rounds on the Internet Monday morning. One of the recipients was Greene County Health Commissioner, Mark McDonnell.

"My first thought was oh my god," said McDonnell.

McDonnell immediately sent staff to restaurant to investigate the numerous health code violations.

  • From Macao to Shanghai

    Saturday, Aug 9, 2008 2:06PM / Standard Entry / Members only

After two uncontested games in Macao, the USA Basketball Team flew to Shanghai and played another two (versus Russia & Australia). More competitive games indeed.... let's check out the photos!

We are flying Chartered Flight to Shanghai from Macao, and were taken under OLYMPIC TEAM level....

.... therefore, we can go through the Customs in Shanghai through Special Olympic Counters... but I cannot believe that the players got stucked outside the customs not by the fans, BUT BY THE CUSTOMS themselves... asking players for autograph... photos....

WHAT KIND OF SECURITY is that??

The 2 games in Shanghai was played in the Qizhong Forest Sports Center, home of the 2005-2008 ATP Tennis Masters Cup

This time in Shanghai, more NBA Legends come attend & watch, including GLEN RICE, one of the best shooter in the history of NBA.

And I ran into Tayshaun Prince on my way back to my hotel room after the first game against Russia....

Before the Australia game, our crew got one day-off to cruise around Shanghai Old City Town... nice working with our Director of the show, Pat Walker!!

The nicest part to stay in the same hotel with the players is that... you always get to see them in the elevator... WITHOUT bodyguard.  Here is JASON KIDD!!!!!

Aussie gave a tough time to the USA Team but eventually lost by 11 points.  But remember that, Andrew Bogut (their star player) wasnt playing due to injury... expect him to be ready in the Olympics.

  • USAB 2008 PreOlympic - Gameday #2

    Friday, Aug 1, 2008 11:00PM / Standard Entry / Members only

Second game of the USAB tour in Macao,
    USA vs Lithuania

Since it is a Friday game, the game is sold out early ahead, Besides Lithuania did beat the US before in some international matches before.  Thus, it's more tense this time.

Like what I said, everyone expect this to be a tight game, but I guess the "No-Ilgauskas-Lithuania" team just wasnt tough enough for the USA, as they beat Lithuania by over 30 again!

So happy to see a lot of my friends in this game, not only coming for the USA DREAM TEAM, but nice enough to say hi to me! Thank Q y'all!

And the best part of today's game, is that Willis Reed (The NBA Legend from NY Knicks) come talked to me after the game, and says I did a good job.  I was in quite a complicated role this time because I was the MC & PA Announcer of the game, which means everytime during time-out, I have to run out from my seats, to the very end of the bench, and comes back out to the court and turn into an emcee.  It was fun,  but exhausting. I am just glad to hear such comments from him. Thanks Willie.

So Macao is done, half way to go. Heading to Shanghai tomorrow....!!

  • USAB 2008 PreOlympic - Gameday #1

    Thursday, Jul 31, 2008 11:00PM / Standard Entry / Members only

    The game is on....
    USA vs. TURKEY

Their first pre-olympic warmup games, getting set for Beijing....
What is the score....? well everyone knows... or, who cares?! haha!
There'll be no contest for sure, just a great show for ppl to check out the DREAM TEAM, and see if they are still THAT GOOD!

I have to say that, this is an unbelievable experience for me, because this would be my first time as a PA Announcer for an international basketball game. NOT ONLY that, I also played the role as the event MC, to play with the crowd during break times on the court.

Work's tiring, but the best thing is, I got to do some shoot-around before our rehearsal... !

Getting pretty nervous before the game, but thanks for the nicest producer PATRICK who accompany me on my side.  He's super nice guy and seldom to have producer not yelling to his staff! haha!

Before the game, players' getting their touches...

    (Michael Redd feeling the ball)

(Kobe Bryant getting his shooting touch ready)

Hey.... Even the Refs are getting their touches too

Being a PA Announcer of the game is a very tense job, unlike commentators which you can just say anything.  A PA Announcer ought to be precise on the game to report to the live audience... but when sometimes the players just sit RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU....basically blocking your view to the court... what should I do?

(Oh well, pick up your camera and start "shooting"! haha!)

After the game, I returned to be a normal basketball fan, especially when I saw my idol SAM PERKINS (we both use #14 as our jersey number!)

Alright, USA beats Turkey by over 30 points...
    FINAL SCORE:
    USA 114 vs 82 TUR

I did thought about hanging around inside the casino, see if I have the luck to bump into any of the basketball stars... but I was too exhausted already.

So, tomorrow, USA will play the stronger Lithuania team, hope to see a much exciting game. Ciao!
