I have finally Honged to the Kong, or Konged to the Hong, and made it to the big HK!
Moved straight into an unfurnished apartment so spending most of my time fixing it up, with furniture etc. Didn't get a bed until about midnight on the first day... was pretty hairy!!
Wanted to devote a blog entry to the genius that is the British band HUNDRED REASONS! They've been around a while now, released 4 albums, I'm guessing won't be around too much longer which is pretty sad.
I went to see the a while back a really small club in Leicester(UK) and its gotta be one of the best gigs I've ever been to. The only think that could better it could be The ataris at Readin Festival in 2003.. hmmmm... difficult choice. Here's a couple of photos I took at the HR gig.
Colin, their singer, has an amazing voice. If you like this stuff, check out their other albums as it is all amazing. These are the first 3 singles from their first album(2002)... (btw Colin doesn't sing the verses on the first video).
For anyone interested the Cantonese studies are going alright, spent a while just re-learning what I used to know but have forgotten. Now I'm entering new territory though. Scary!
Ok it's nearly July, the start of the second half of the year. And I am considering making it my 'Half Year Resolution' to speak Cantonese like this guy by Christmas.
Of course I'm joking. He's been living in HK for 16 years. I've never lived there. But it would sure be nice wouldn't it
As of now though I am seriously learning Cantonese. As best a Gwai Lo can anyway with my big nose and my tonal incompetence lol. I'm quite interested to see how much I can learn by Christmas!
Just returned from a holiday to Bulgaria, with short trips to Turkey (Istanbul) and Greece (Rizia - tiny village in middle of nowhere!). Had a great time. Just wish I didn't have to come back to London... and work.
I now have rough plan for moving to Hong Kong though, so I've got something to look forward to, eventually!

Bulgaria has interesting crime fighting methods. They want to prevent gun crime.. so they put up no gun signs. Genius!!!! If only the UK had their wisdom. It could solve our knife crime problem overnight! They also seem to have something against croissants
hmmmmm..
Ginger the Greek cat. Meow.
Bit of pretentious photography - Little boy playing football in the Blue Mosque in Istanbul.
Played at he Metro Club just recently, had lots of fun and seemed to do well by the crowd too which is always nice.
I wish I could go to that PolyMuso event that's advertised everywhere on AliveNotDead.
It's been a weird week or two... here in London we've had warm sunny days, more snow than I can remember here for at least 5 or 10 years, and torrential rain.
Such is life in Britain. What twist and/or turn in the weather will greet us next? They say all the British do is talk about weather, there's a damn good reason!
