Back in the cold.
Thursday, Jan 10, 2008 2:42AM / Standard Entry

Hi folks!
Just got back to Vienna on Monday. Last couple of weeks have been crazy travelling - Shanghai, Hong Kong and Dubai. All the gigs were cool, but Hong Kong and Dubai were definitely outstanding. Caught up with friends and family over the festive season....over ate, over drank... here's some pics with words to go with this little trip.
Forget the Peak and all that tourtist stuff! Hanging out with my good friend Kid Fresh at my local store playing Spaced Invaders. Inspired by the technology, the next day we went out to buy iphones.
Cliq Hong Kong - Big shout to the Alive not Dead crew for organizing the event and partying hard (haha Patrick was WASTED!), Alaric, Kid Fresh, Dj TKO and everyone who came down! Mad party! Got to do it again soon!
me (drunk) with Dj TKO and 2 lovely ladies.
Kiddy and Wheezy
My great friend Michael. When he's not doing Marathons and all that, he parties and looks tough in photos.
Good ad for Alive Not Dead? My brother sporting an Alive Not Dead cap, straight after coming back from the hospital to get his eyebrow stitched up.
Anyways, a few more days in Hong Kong, and then it was off to Dubai.....
Dubai airport - 6 in the morning. Did not sleep at all on the 9 hour flight... hence the half hearted smile.

Went skiing here at the Emirates mall. Pretty weird experience I got to say....
This is where I stayed, on the 25th floor of the Jameirah Emirates towers.
5 am Dubai.
and that's it for now....
love,
B

Saturday, Dec 1, 2007 12:34AM / Standard Entry / hello!

Sorry folks that its been a loooooooong while since I've blogged. So for those of you who are interested, I am going to give you a rundown (short!) on what I've been up to in the last couple months. In no chronological order whatsoever...
1.) Moved house
- Moving sucked. I didnt get back any of my deposit money because I broke the fridge in the whole flat. I've been in the new flat for 2 months and I am still half living out of boxes.
2.) Dealing with Winter
-This is the facial expression that I wear in Winter, and it doesn't really change until Spring time.
I've been living in Europe for over 10 years, and in Vienna for about 4. Still, I've never managed to prepare myself, mentally nor physically, for Winter - you know, adapt yourself to the shortening of the days, lack of sunshine, and icy cold winds. It's a good job I don't live in Greenland or Iceland, I wouldn't stand a chance.
3.) Saw American Gangster in Berlin
Been fiending for a good American gangster film for a while, and this one did the trick.Great film, great story, great actors. Denzel was great, Russel was great, even RZA and T.I. were great. Go see it if you got time.
4.) Sat in a pimped out taxi in Taipei
DVD, CDs, books, magazines, red and gold embroided seats.... try and find this guy if you ever in Taipei. I watched bits of Casino Royale in this cab. For some weird reason, he kept on skipping through the DVD. I think he was trying to show me the "good bits" of the film.
5.) Picked the cover for my Baile Funk Breaks record coming out in March
What do you think? Me and the label boss Daniel think it's pretty good. It's a photo taken in Rio, and the guy in the pic is setting up the sound system for a Baile Funk party.
6.) Hung out with people
Crookers @ Radio FM4 studios - Phra on the left, Bot on the right, me in the middle. Look out for Crookers, they gonna be BIG next year.
Cold, cold November in Berlin
l-r me, Schowi, Palina, Daniel, Johanna, Edu K ,Chili, San Gabriel
Noodles and Me, all you can eat Taipei.
Damn, I miss that place.
AND THAT'S PRETTY MUCH IT FOR NOW! Looking forward to going back to Hong Kong in December.
One love, Optimus Prime

Still moving house...but got some music for you!
Friday, Aug 31, 2007 4:59PM / Standard Entry
Hey there!
The moving house is pretty much done...Just got to move a few bits and pieces, finish a bit of paint work, fill in some holes that I regret having drilled in the first place and I am done. I know it sounds really shallow, but its at times such as moving house that I really appreciate the fact that I have a few friends to help me out.Anyways, some more music for you. I just finished a mix for Man Recordings. Feeling good about it, because I pretty much got into baile funk through one of Man Recordings first releases "Favela Booty Breaks volume one", and now I have had the privilege to do a mix for the label. Fans of Baile Funk should definitely check the mix out, and to those of you unfamiliar with this type of music, here's your chance to find out about some Brazilian dance music from the favelas.
Big shout out to Man Recordings Big Boss Daniel Haaksman for hooking me up with all the tracks, and to engineer extraordinaire Rudi Ortner for mastering the mix!
You can download the mix on the following blogs so far -

Stuff
Thursday, Jul 26, 2007 1:43AM / Standard Entry
Hey! Gonna keep it short, because to be honest with you, my life is just about djing at the moment and there's not much to say about that. All the gigs so far this month have been pretty good, will post up some pics when I find out how to do that (not the most computer literate guy...) Also, a bit disappointed that my gig in Dubai got postponed. Was really looking forward to going there to see that crazy looking building that looks like the sail on the boat, what's it called again? The Buji al Arab. Next time. Meanwhile, here are some mixes that I have uploaded for you to check out. More to come! Thanks, B Kid Fresh and Beware promo mix http://www.zshare.net/audio/26377362380930/ A mix that I did for the radio in Vienna from Hong Kong when I was there a couple months ago http://www.zshare.net/audio/229538341158ad/ One funk and soul mix I did for Milkdipper label in Japan last year http://www.zshare.net/audio/2851091cdab0d2/

minds on the dancefloor to his unique style of
putting together ass shaking music.
It all started for Beware in Hong Kong about 15 years
ago, as a skateboard kid who went and bought music
that he heard in skate videos, which was mainly hip
hop, reggae, punk, rock; a little soul, jazz and drum n
bass. And since we are talking about the 90s here,
Beware also got hold of a fair share of house, techno
and dance to throw into his collection. At that time this
kid Beware wasn't collecting music to spin at parties or
anything like that - he was just doing it because he
loved it.
Djing came a couple of years later, when Beware saw
former DMC world champ Dj Tommy cutting up records
in the BFD skate store in Hong Kong. From that point
on, Beware would start lugging his records to a friend's
house to practice his mixing and scratching. This friend
would be left in peace 2 years later when Beware
decided to invest in his own pair of 1210s and mixer.
Fast forward to the year 2000. Beware enters his first
DMC battle in Hong Kong. He comes in 2nd. The next
year he comes back to take the title and manages to
make it to the top 13 in the World Finals in 2001 and in
2002, entertaining and surprising the crowd at Brixton
Academy with his creative sets that incorporated
Screaming Jay Hawkins, Britney Spears, Bad
Company, Michael Jackson and even the soundtrack
to Dirty Dancing!
Since then, Beware's unique and eclectic style of djing
has brought him to clubs and festivals in Europe, Asia,
Middle East and Australia. He has also toured with and
collaborated with artists such as German Reggae artist
Patrice, Viennese electronic musician I Wolf of the Sofa
Surfers. Nowadays, Dj Beware juggles his time
between club djing across the globe, hosting a popular
daily mix show "Unlimited" on Radio FM4, plus doing
remixes, productions and mixes for various artists and
labels.
