    MTV's Greatest Albums Ever

    Right.

Actually ... the link isn't even worth discussing ... just felt like pointing it out!

  • twitter.com/disuye ... and a rant

Blog title says it all! FaceBook has turned into clunky corporate ad ridden MySpace-esque spam-fest.

    Disconnect.

Joined Twitter in 2007, but regional coverage was so low back then I'd actually forgotten I had an account until a friend in Singapore reminded me. She got my interest in the system back up & running.

Keeping up with different networking sites is partly due to me just being interested in technology, plus I also am looking for ways to communicate with friends that also side-steps the daily barrage of blank self-promotion* & corporate advertising.

Banner ads and Google ads and e-mail spam ads and sidebar ads and MTR ads and road-side ads and SMS spam ads, MSN spam ads, bus & tram ads and ads on TV and magazine ads and ads in & on taxis and product placement everywhere ... it's fucking endless! I hate it.

(*DJs and hip-hop producers are the worst, sorry guys but you are. If you could send e-mail from a guitar then maybe more bands would be responsible. Some slick press photos and bio listing people who you warmed-up for in bold typeface plus maybe a half-assed Garageband track ripping off the current Beatport / Billboard Top 10 is not the stuff of legends. The stuff of legends are too busy being legends to stop and arrange a photo shoot. But I digress.)

Is advertising the ONLY way to get creative & artistic and otherwise non-commercial ideas financed?

    Really?!

I wonder if Flickr actually makes enough operating money from the $25 per year Pro Subscriptions they sell? I see many many Pro accounts on there, so they must be doing all right. I like Flickr so I bought an account. I would pay to keep Twitter ad free. And I mean the whole site ad free, not just the pages I see.

Same goes for Alive Not Dead. It's useful and / or I simply just want to support it. Same goes with bands. Same goes with films (although honestly the internet film industry is hardly booming ... tough finding indie films let alone a way to pay the people directly, like musicians). That's enough spleen for one day ... I'm off to buy a guitar and engineer for Audiotraffic. Watch me do so in gripping real-time mobile photoblog here.

Another track I dug up on my travels. Eric Burden is one of the most underrated singers of all time. And that German announcer is awesome ... to have your arrival announced in German makes it seem more official.

I’ve repurposed my old (and frankly, dull) Blogger Blog to accept photos uploaded directly from my mobile phone. I’m taking shots during the course of production of my third album. At the moment I’m in demo / writing stages but as the work progresses there will be gear shots, people shots, source of inspiration shots, location shots, pits of despair shots, drunk shots … you get the idea. I plan to upload something every few hours while I am in the album headspace. Every few hours, for about a year.

I am a big fan of ‘band at work’ studio photos on CD artwork, so this mobile photo blog exercise goes someway to recreating that vibe for an online audience. Please comment or ask questions or say whatever you want on there: www.disuye.com is for me, the disuye blogger page is for you :)
