I don't know... I can understand a decent amount of Mandarin and I did get like 1/3 of his lyrics, and they're stupid. The only "flow" he has is random pauses here and there. It's almost like he has something to say that is worth listening to, but he doesn't bother to translate it to a musically respectable form. Maybe three years ago I would've forgiven him because it is Mandarin and he was born abroad and such... not anymore. I actually think he did better on Hazy than he did on this one. I liked the production better on Hazy too. "Sai Hei" was very good but a little too different for casual listeners.
Yeah I heard MC Yan is releasing this summer and I hope it's soon because I leave HK mid August. In the meantime I also hope Hardpack, 24 Herbs, Jun Kung, etc. all somehow get their stuff out too! Hahaha.
Since I last posted in HKVP (a LONG time ago, and I think I stated why in my last response) I've gained a lot more respect and knowledge of Beyond. I'll never know stuff like their old lineups and origins and such because I simply was not in HK at the time, and even if I was, it would've been too late anyway since I was born in 87. I do have a much better grasp of their music and messages though.
Oh, I saw the two Guy Ritchie films. I kind of enjoyed them although if they added another set of characters to Lock,Stock.., I'd be lost. It's hard enough trying to decipher some of those accents, reading those subtitles in the process and keeping track of which character's speaking what lines.
I'm from the SF Bay Area. Currently in E. Hanover, New Jersey, vacationing. I'm such an anglophile - I just love the British accent. A proper one, if there's such a thing. Twice been to London.
You almost read my mind. I was wondering why you're FM. Come on, you must be able to change that. Well, I'll assume you're a girl-at-heart. haha.
I don't mind knowing the synopsis of any film. I'll usually read the synopsis if I'm already interested in the film. If I was already not interested, I might ignore the synopsis or read it to find out why I wasn't interested. Get what I mean?
I think I've read about Crazy Stone already which makes me wanna see it, but not badly enough to buy it on Yesasia. Guess I'll just have to wait until HK end of year or until it's available at Netflix.
I heard Edison's new album... as usual the production is pretty good. The overwhelmingly Western feel of it loses my interest because I could easily access the same stuff over here, and there's a reason why I avoid it. I didn't even know Kanye produced two of the tracks; I might go back to those. Other than that, Edison needs to keep improving his Cantonese before tackling another language. I mean, so far the only pretty good album he has under his belt is the one where he only did 1/3 of the album (PSTA)
I do remember "Yellow" more... were you the one that asked about Finalazy? Or were you the one that knew everything about Beyond?
Yes, I guess you can call me rude if you wanna. I was pretty sure you'd see Isabella before you got to my comment (you did, didn't you?). I have a 6th sense, you see. haha. No, I haven't seen it but I've read a lot about it just out of curiosity. I don't really like to look at Chapman To.
Lemme see. You called yourself director because you like to wear women's underwear under your clothes? haha. Next time in your pics where you doodle over your image, you should put one of those megaphones over your mouth or face.
shoot... I don't really remember who you are. Did we have Jun discussions back in hkvp? I remember there were several people there who really had constructive topics (most people were just "old is good new is bad blablabla" from what I remember). Good to see someone else know something about the more recent, semi-mainstream but true musicians
Oh my. You're only a fan of MOI at the moment. How cool is that?! haha.
I'd very much like to see Crazy Stone myself. Not because it's got anything to do with Andy Lau. I'm 'meh' about Isabella - don't care for it. I know the whole story, wanna hear? Isabella doesn't actually sleep with her dad (before he knew he was her dad). She just fed him that story that she did.
hi there, i haven't been in HK that much myself.
moved to Singapore last year. i'm just back here briefly singing backing vocals for some shows here, will be leaving this Sunday. don't have a chance to catch the guys performance neither, i heard there's a jazz fest at FCC last night. but i was working.. :(
grab a BC or HK Magazine, they should have full listing.
I like stupid silly movies sometimes. And I emphasize sometimes. I don't go running to the DVD rental for Will Farrell, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and the rest of the lot. I thought Shaun of the Dead was ok so Hot Fuzz can't be too far off from that, I would think.
I just ordered 200 pound Beauty and Tazza at yesasia. Yay.
About Korean cinema. I totally agree that there's a lot of junk out there, in addition to a lot of good stuff. You get shlock with the good. Although Hallyu is seemingly on the downturn, I'm sure glad I discovered it bc I had nowhere else to turn to in terms of Asian cinema with the bottoming out of HK cinema. There's lots of Chinese films but they aren't as fashionable, fun, hip, sardonic (subversive or blatant) as Korea or HK can be.
I cover all nations with my comments in that forum. Whatever Netflix and Yesasia has, I can access.
Oh boy, I've posted so much about different sorts of movies (see http://alivenotdead.com/bbs/forum-1000000010-1.html) that I can't even remember all the titles. An oldtimer here.
hey hey hey....i recognize who u are haha
just by reading ur post haha~ i tot someone else stole the idea of creating a review site haha. I'm actually wanting to do that on my page now plus writing a bit of my life, so it doesn't get too informational haha. If u noticed I started with disussing entertainment issues and featured one artist--Amei.. I was gonna do CD/movies reviews in the future now. hehe
