  • MTV ASIA AWARDS 2008 is official!

    Friday, May 30, 2008 8:27PM / Standard Entry

    Hello one and all,

Just returned from Kuala Lumpur and it was awesome catching up with some of my ol' mates. I had the pleasure in officiating the news: The Mtv Asia Awards 2008 is back after a 1year break and it'll be bigger, better and bolder.

Joe Flizzow of Cartell Records was a special guest at the press conference I was hosting. He's one one half of now defunct Too Phat.

And not forgetting one of my fave bands to come out of Malaysia, Pop Shuvit. They toured/opened for My Chemical Romance and have played pretty much everywhere in Asia.
    Fun bunch of boys:)

I was suppose to return back to hq but Hugo Boss invited me for their flagship opening in Kuala Lumpur's Pavillion, and being the half-German fashionista that I am, I couldn't reZist.

Elaine Daily as the hostess with the mostess..

Moi, Lisa, Camelia, Carmen and Stephanie plus Jimmy..

    that's all for now...
    xoxo

  • Oops, I missed my spotlight...

    Monday, May 26, 2008 11:38PM / Standard Entry

Damn! I was getting so good at this blogging thing, and I missed my chance to write something worthy for the 'spotlight'!

Hokay, I'm going to write a proper introduction and a hello to everyone that was super duper welcoming me to AND. Here we go...

Hi, I'm Denise and I'm the Mtv Vj on the Asian network. I've been talking with my hands for over 5 years now (geesh, time flies) since my HK departure in 2002. I lived in HK for over 4 years modeling to and fro, doing the usual thing foreign models do in HK: making quick cash over the border in Shenzen modeling in very 'fashionable' catalogs, appearing in raunchy music videos with HK pop starzzzz (I add the 'z's' because it adds the zazz into pop), and occasionally wearing expensive stuff for editorial magazines. Yes, it was indeed the start of my career, because I realized I had a certain adrenaline to do more with my life. No offence to any model in HK, I respect the craft, but I needed to move on and work on my motormouth everyone said I had.
And one fine day I flew back home for an adhoc audition for the channel, and before I knew it, i had to host live shows and stand against a green screen backdrop. It was a big move, big change and a new life. Since then I've flown all over the world, interviewing some of the biggest stars to date and my biggest accomplishment would be hanging out with the Rolling Stones in an airport lounge discussing spirits and liquors. I love what I do, I have a passion for music and people and I still continue to this day, bouncing around with the Mtv mic.
This was me when I was 22 at Mtv- very young...

and now I'm pseudo back in HK-hurray..and they gave me an award (uh, a diesel one)...

Apart from switching up my bases, I'll be back for HK Lux Week and other adhoc events/shows...so check back this space from time to time.

    smooches to all xoxo

Yup, another round of hosting in Malaysia

Missy Elliot rawked a great show and her dancers were awesome as always. It took her close to 2hours to start, opened up with pyro and got her freak on with wet salty towels for the crowd.

And here's my warm up freeze before the show...with a cup of corn..

    ...it's true...

  • The Singaporean Mushroom Pizza Story

    Friday, May 16, 2008 1:02AM / Standard Entry

    Now that's bloody original...
Let me explain how I stumbled on this glorious machine, called the Hotbake. I really thought I had seen pretty much every single vending machine to date after living in Tokyo, but this, however is quite an ad. I found this machine in a hospital in Singapore after having quite a dramatic tumble and found no light waiting for my turn with the sick and injured. Then I saw this lady happily dropping her dollar coins into this ginenormous yellow box and walked away chowing down what looked like a spaceship. AND it was a spaceship, sandwich...
I'm just a bit confused-it's the "Singaporean Mushroom Pizza Story" but it comes in the shape of a sandwich. Okay, it must have been a small typo...BUT, when you have the variety...

...at the Pharmacy, I'm not quite sure it's pizza anymore...
Let us not forget that it uses a) fresh ingredients (stored in machine in the hospital, b) made in Singapore (very clean..sure) and c) delivered daily...(I hope so).

Yes, the amusing things you find in the hospitals in Singapore....very uplifting and very funny mushroom pizza stories from Singapore..oh and it's halal too..
