Where did I go?
Tuesday, Nov 18, 2008 11:43PM / Standard Entry
Hello everyone:)Indeed, where did i go? Well, my last blog was about flitzing back to Singapore to welcome some of the members of Motley Crue at Changi Airport. You know, the usual meet-and-greet the band at the airport and throw a ring of pink orchids over their necks, signing a poster for Changi's Hall of fame hulahoop kind of thing. The band members were coming from different cities, so it was split between 2 days at the airport and I was hired to do a big tapdance announcement on the second day for none other than Tommy Lee.See if you can figure this poster puzzle out:Well, you can't really spot it but if you do figure it out, you get an air-guitar kick from me...Yup, Tommy Lee's signature is missing from the poster, which means he did a rockstar no-show! F.a.b.u.l.o.u.s! I wouldn't have wanted it any different, I mean, come'on, they're legendary! They can do whatever they friggin like, they're rock bible. Still...as i think to myself onstage: 'I got stood up by Tommy Lee in the center of Changi Airport.'HILARIOUS.The concert was fun, a lot of screams, a lot of mud (it was outdoor) and a lot of, ahem, older people dressed in 80's karate kid numbers. Amusing, but scary too...you had to be there to know what I mean..Back to fashion nation:THANK YOU ELLE SINGAPORE! for making me Fashion Icon of the Year 2008! This award goes to my squished feet for wearing the most ridicules stilettos of all time and enduring my yogic balancing act of grace and poise in the wonderful world of fashion. So, here's to you, my 10 little piggies for all the pain I caused you.And off to shoot for Elle for the closing issue of 2008.grrr, you're a leopard, you're a ferret, you're tiger with brick wedges on...uh, what?Sometimes I really have no idea what the hell I'm thinking about when I'm in front of the camera..but I do realize over the years, how much more I laugh at myself doing this. Look at the sheer concentration...I'm holding my tummy and keeping my lunch in:)And this is the touch-your-strap-and-keep-your-fingers-posed-for-ring-shot..Uh,... only my fingers turn out to be crooked because I'm double-jointed...Nice!And off to the next project: Pistorio Foundation.I have to say I'm generally really sheepish about doing charity events/auctions, especially when you have no idea if funds meet the needy. But this one, feels different. It spoke to me in a different light. And I fell in love with Pistorio's mission in the world, which is to help children and their future. Having a mum as a teacher, it resonated in me how little schools we have in Asia. Basic schools. Basic tools. Basic life needs. So me and La Perla silently auctioned a specially designed dress for the causeRead more about it on www.pistoriofoundation.orgI think we hit a great mark for the foundation which from I understood, was a night of sufficient funds to open a school dormitory in Thailand. :)And my last stop: Thailand! What a great way to unwind my twinkle toes for a short break with my sister, Nadine:)I'm back at work, mad at work and will be in and out from AND. Lots to report in the next months..Thank you for the sweet messages and well-wishes for my m.i.a. I promise to keep updating when I have moments to spare. Do look out for my new website, coming real soon.I know, I know, I've been saying that for almost 2 years now (LOL), but I've been working with some very cool webmasters who go by the name of artfantastico, and we have FINALLY figured out what my problem was: getting my act together! So watch this space, I'll give you guys a head's up. And once again, than you for being so patient!love, dk

Diesel Beijing - XXX - Dirty 30
Tuesday, Oct 14, 2008 11:28PM / Standard Entry
Heya folks,
Just got back from Beijing for the Diesel's 30th anniversary and it was bloody great! Great weather, fun people, cool artists and electrifying music.
Here's my lowdown:
During the day before the party...
The party was held in Beijing's hawtest art districts and I have to say that they managed to pull everything off in time. In China you have a gazillion people working on something, with lots of breaks and snoozes (yes, there were people purring on the sofa seats) and you're never quite sure if they'll pull it off. But amazingly, like magic, the warehouse was shaped into one big hawt Diesel party.
During souncheck with dem jeans and cobrasnake. and we also had China's very own Diesel PurryCat Dolls..
purrrr, grrrrr...meow, woof...ahem, yes...purry indeed..
queen shiba arrives...
Yup it was packed to the brim.
Back in Singapore for the MOTLEY CRUE CONCERT-woohoo...more updates to follow!
Xdk
Oh one last thing......
MC Champagne will be greatly missed in HK. Safe travels and lots of Chanel grrr's to you back home.

Vroomed, vroomed and I'm pooped...
Tuesday, Oct 7, 2008 10:51PM / Standard Entry
Hello everyone!
Yes, I've been hiding under a rock, trying to fix my voice and left ear drum. As you probably already know, I had the honor in hosting the first nightrace in Singapore for Formula Un (pls say in French accent. -it gives more oomph to the mojo).
I tried my very best in keeping it cool as this was by far one of my most challenging jobs ever; I think the hardest bit for me was filtering out voices in my head with car vrooms vrooms and whatever additional noise existed everyday for 3 days. My wonderful and patient producer from Oz nestled in my ear in the form of an earpiece-comm, which kinda freaked me out in the beginning-but you know what they say, you learn something new everyday at your job!
Singapore hosted one of the most amazing events for the year and I still can't believe how they managed to pull everything together in time. By sundown, Singapore looked simply stunning with gorgeous pink and purple hues everynight and I hide to hide my sniffles of pride..yes, very dramatic indeed..can I just say, it looked f?!'@ing AMAZING!!
Let me give you a short visual tour of my experience:
First day @ the exclusive Paddock Club (which is kinda where I was everyday, but I had a killer view!!)
My fim crew was parked next to the champers bar. Yes, you would think it be very tempting, but seriously think about it: the heat from the sun would send you straight for a dripin the hospital.
I think dozens of people collapsed on the first day...not so fun..
SGP production unit-I'm not quite sure why they had their profiles pinned to the wall. I really had a hard time chasing their helmits to begin with...but again, I'm still an F1 virgin:)
see what I mean about the sound infiltration???I had a the band stage 12 o'clock from my station...
eardrum busted....
Meet Ken Delbridge (sorry Ken, you're blog famous now..) This is the guy who taught me everything about vocals, sound and anything to do the beginning of my mtv voice. And he so happen to support me as my co-host during F1..
the view from the 'very important people's room'...I pretended to be important and snuck in...
The view from the 'very important people's room'.
After Practice Sessions in the pit lane. Yes, I could have snuck a Lewis or a Massa photo but how uncool is to not play cool while you have a Pit Pass?!?!
the pureety flyer of singapore...awwww, dust in my eye..snif snif
The dome of after-parties in the Paddock Club. Very cool idea, but somehow nobody showed up.
Austi Powers showed up. Yes, very random but very real. He rubbed my shoulders and had his lines down to his velvet blue suit. GRRRRRRR...His name was Austin Flowers from downunder though..
Thank you boys, you rawked my world. These guys get a salute for keeping me together..mooches to you boys.
Le Grandstand baby....
Last moments before the race...
IT"S A WRAP...wooohooo...
After the race, people got to walk on the tracks...I think they shoould have ended it with a Mardi Festival or something..How fabuloous would that be!
So there you have it, short and sweet. I'm pooped but had THE MOST AMAZING EXEPRIENCE.
Heading to Beijing this weekend, heard a very cool Diesel party is going down in the world.
Check back soon...mooches everyone...xxxx

ROCKBAND RAWKED
Tuesday, Sep 23, 2008 10:13PM / Standard Entry
The rockstars were out in full force and it was probably the coolest geek convention I've been to in a long time. Shame I had to host the event, or probably a good thing, cos I would have been totally distracted. I say get rockband and the tools but don't forget to dress up like these rockers!I guess having pyro fun at home is not a good idea. This is an alternative way of looking hot.Don't mess with these girls, they have voodoo finger tricks. If looks could kill...If you have a softer fluffier side, maybe the bunny in you may NOT want to try Nikki Six' moves...I suggest tight black leather pants for air-splits. But I'm a sucker for pink, so she wins the most stylish rockstar of the year.We also had the screamer award, yes folks, it hurt. But kudos to him for doing both guitar AND mic at the same time. NOT AN EASY FEAT ON ROCKBAND...trust me..And what would the Games Convention Asia be without the booth babes?! I couldn't stop staring at their belts, I mean, shorts...KAWAII!That's it folks..I'm hitting the simulator at the Singapore GP...Vroom. will update once I get the key to the garage:)wuaks and out.xxx

Pedal to the Metal
Friday, Sep 19, 2008 8:21AM / Standard Entry
AAAAWWW YEAH.
2008 F1 Singapore Grand Prix Night circuit looks sick! Gonna get some pedal to the metal action as I gear up with all international and local commentators for the race of the year.
There is something so amazing about this circuit, I can't quite describe it that well-you really have to be here to see it for yourself. Tix aren't cheap and most have been sold, so if you're nutso about F1, you wouldn't want to miss out your chance to play nightrider. May the power be in your Vroom.
Also, CALLING ALL ROCKBAND FANS IN SINGAPORE: Be at the convention centre this SAT, 20th Sep, and compete with my new outfit-I'm gonna burn up the stage with all you air guitar freaks, cos i have been practising my Scorpions solo riff.
PS...ssshhhhh....I'm working on a fab fab new show for the region....You'll see.... :)

Denise made a crossover from the catwalk to the small screen as MTV Asia’s resident VJ in July 2003. She has since endeared herself to the MTV viewers with her bright smile and tireless bouncy energy.
When Denise is not gracing magazine covers as well as hosting events, she spends her time reading, hanging out with her kitties, watching ballet recitals, getting lost in big bookstores, doing yoga and taking pictures. Her two passions in life are traveling the world getting to know different cultures as well as collecting/learning how to play traditional musical instruments.
The philosophy Denise swears by is from James Allen: “Cherish your vision; cherish your ideals, cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts. If you remain true to them, your world will be built at last.”
