永别了Moonwalker

今天早上一起来发现收到了数条短信和邮件，写的都是：Michael Jackson is dead。

我谈不上是他的超级fan，但他的音乐和那些经典的MV陪伴了我小学至大学时期。如今看那些MV还超有感觉，他的音乐很有怀旧感，能让我闪回到一个更“简单”的年代、一个得靠实力证明自己的年代。

不管他近十年的私生活有多怪异或反常，但不能否认杰克逊的才华和他对流行音乐的巨大贡献和影响力，而且影响的不止是一代人。他的音乐不管你喜不喜欢，地球上只要有收音机的地方几乎没有没听过他的歌的人。虽然小时候我老爸不让我像杰克逊一样抓着“小弟弟”跳舞，但今天为了纪念他，我独自在客厅里还是跳了一小段。永别了Moonwalker。

我好久没写博客了，谢谢部分网友的关心。在这里趁机跟那些留言骂我“死哪儿去”的网友解释一下，我有好几个月确实是懒得博了（没啥想写的就不勉强，这一惯是我博的规矩），但最近一直没写是因为又忙起来了。我新电影《形影不离》目前筹备的比较顺利，过几个月就要正式开始前期准备并开机。一旦电影公司让透露更多，我会在这里跟大家介绍一下。祝大家一切都好，until next time.

Hi all. Finished shooting yesterday. Talk about a hardcore shoot. We had to squeeze in 3 days worth of shooting into 2 days because of actor schedules -- normally not a problem when NOT shooting car chases and action! On top of that, I only have 4 days of post-pro time before it airs on national TV live. Before I sign off: "I'd like to thank the academy and CCTV for leaving everything until the last minute!" At least we all had great fun making it. I'll try and post it up here when it's done.

The comments posted when I didn't blog made me laugh, haha. Thanks for the concern & support! The reason I didn't blog was because I was busy preparing my next film. I have been developing several projects since last year, and decided the project which I most wanted to shoot in Jan this year. This project is an idea I had for few years but hadn't writing down completely. I blocked out about 8 months of my time to finish it (I'm always slow writing- but it seems this time was quicker than "Waiting Alone". Progress!) The good news is we've attached the main cast this past last month.

When I was busy on my film project, Zhou Jianping from the Film Association contacted me, said Association and CCTV Film Channel wanted me to shoot their first-ever short film for the Chinese academy award (Golden Rooster) opening ceremony. I was afraid it would conflict with my film at first. But while they persuade me, I came to an idea that maybe we could do it in a brand new way. The different heads asked me to write a project plan about that, the only requirement is mention the "Gold Rooster Lake" in Suzhou (yes, it's really called that) and to try to include "action". I could decide the rest freely. I figured since it's just a few minutes film and I don't know how to write a proposal, I ended up writing a complete scrīpt. They thought my mini-action short film is funny and approved it with only a few changes. After I decided the final scrīpt, they asked me whom I want to star in it. I said the final scrīpt was written for Ziyi Zhang, Liu Ye and Ge You. So I had them contact them first. The three were willing to star in it after read the scrīpt. And Tang and Xiao Zhang began their complex work in contacting and adjustment of shooting date. Several times we thought we might have to cancel because of scheduling, but finally, after everyones hard work, we went into pre-production! (although we have a very very short amount of time to prepare and shoot!)

Hi everyone! Glad to be here and join the posse. Mark and the boys posted some entries from my Sina blog -- probably so it doesn't look like a non-functioning wasteland here.
For the curious, I live in Beijing for most of the year, currently busy gearing up to do my next film. I'll try and post more entries soon (in English). Look forward to hanging out here.

回忆童年时代的变形金刚：擎天柱你这孙子

好久没有这么期待一部电影。自从半年前看到了Michael Bay的《变形金刚》预告片，我就迫不及待的等着看这个超级大美国商业片。为了和几个好朋友一起去看此电影，我就牺牲了去0点首映活动，一直憋到今天，今晚终于要去看了！到时候也别问我好看不好看，因为100%好看、影片本身哪怕再“有问题”我也会说好看！这类电影就是为了让我们在电影院里娱乐一把，过把大片隐就欧克了。

说到变形金刚，我算不上超粉，我也从来没买过变形金刚玩具（都多大岁数了，还玩个der)——但这或许和我童年有点关系……

记得小时候变型金刚玩具刚上美国市场的时候正好是我们家般到美国的那一年（我说的是第一代玩具上市，不是后来出的塑料烂货）我那时候才上小学四年级，刚从台湾到美国的我，很快就发现这一个叫Transformers的酷玩具。由于家里那时候没电视（父母觉得看电视太浪费时间、讽刺的是儿子现在靠当导演为生）所以我和弟弟就没机会看变型金刚卡通。当然这无所谓，因为在学校我们兄弟俩很快就解到了这玩具各方面的重要知识，比如什么是Autobot什么是Decepticon，谁是Megatron等等——如今这些名字在我脑袋印象非常深刻（给日本玩具公司的人颁奖吧，真会做生意）。记得那时候，有个比较幸运的同学就把大家崇拜的Optimus Prime带到班上来了，那天那小气的小子恨不得都让大家出钱才让摸他的玩具，由于哥们儿和他关系搞的不错，他就允许了我多碰一下Optimus，我大胆问他能不能借玩5分钟，他说“no way man！”，最终此特权还是给了班上最漂亮妹妹。回家后我问我爸：“能不能给我们买个变形金刚？”爸：“变什么金刚，那玩具太贵了，浪费钱，反正你们玩几个星期就会扔一边去。”我和弟弟求办天，爸结果来一句：“看情况吧”。Oh yeah!

有一天回家看到我爸满脸笑容的拿了两个小礼物给我和我弟，我们兴奋的打开一看：太棒了，YEAH——嗯，奇怪，怎么有点长的像变形金刚，但又不完全像呢？这是啥东东？我爸说就是什么Transformers. 仔细一看，啊？？不是呀，原来是个GoBot！GoBot是啥？就是当年另外一日本公司为了趁热卖的另一种变形玩具——其实功能一样，但宣传就是没有变形金刚做的NB、也没有酷卡通、也没有好口碑、而且比较便宜。我们俩就只好玩我们的GoBot，拿去学校结果还被人家笑……哎，现在想起来太傻了，不就一玩具吗，但由于当时的变形金刚热，弄的所有小孩心理都觉得必须有一款真正的Transformers。变形金刚公司还特孙子，有时侯还把GoBot的机器人物放在他们变形金刚的卡通里当群众演员或着“演”SB角色的机器人。但不管怎么样，老爸有那片心意，我和弟弟每天回家就玩我们的假变形金刚——果然玩儿了三个星期左右，就不知道扔哪儿了。还是老爸最明智。

我兴奋要看《变形金刚》是因为电影看起来很酷，并非因为小时候爱玩他，或许……Optimus Prime你这孙子，你丫当时怎么那么难搞到手呀！

DAYYAN ENG (aka Wu Shixian in China) is a Chinese-American director with a distinguished international background. He studied film in the US and transferred to the prestigious Beijing Film Academy where he finished his undergraduate studies in directing. Starting his career directing TV commercials for the Asian and global market, Dayyan won recognition and acclaim for his short films, and most recently, his feature film "Waiting Alone". In late 2005, Dayyan became the first foreign member of the China Directors' Guild and made history as the first foreign director to have a film nominated for "Best Picture" at the Chinese academy awards. He is currently one of the hottest young feature directors in China.

In 2001, Dayyan wrote and directed "Bus 44" starring Chinese film star Gong Beibi. The film premiered and won awards at the 2001 Venice Film Festival and 2002 Sundance Film Festival, and was invited to the 2002 Cannes Film Festival "Director's Fortnight" becoming the first Chinese short film to be invited to each of these festivals. The film was covered extensively in the Chinese media and was critically acclaimed in China, the US, and in Europe, gaining TV and theatrical distribution in territories worldwide.

In 2005, Dayyan completed the Chinese independant feature film "Waiting Alone", which he wrote and directed, starring an ensemble cast including Xia Yu, Gong Beibi, Li Bingbing, and featuring cameos from some of Asia's biggest stars, including Chow-Yun Fat. It premiered to critical raves and was an audience favorite at the 17th Tokyo Int'l Film Festival. The film has been called one of 2005 "best films" by over 50 Chinese media and Variety. "Waiting Alone" became a hit in China among young people upon its September 2005 wide-release in the China market, and went on to receive 3 nominations, including Best Picture, at the Chinese academy awards (Golden Rooster Awards); as well as winning the "Best First Feature" and "Best Actor" awards at the popular Beijing Film Festival. "Waiting Alone" became a best-selling DVD in China and its national network TV premier in early 2006 debuted at #1. The film continues to add a following to its already large fan-base in China. "Waiting Alone" was picked up for international distribution by Arclight Films at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.

Dayyan is currently busy with new projects and divides his time between Beijing and Los Angeles.
