  • My First Student Film

    Sunday, Oct 23, 2011 9:58AM / Members only

So this past summer I finally returned to school.  I'm studying Digital Media in Cinema Production at UVU(Utah Valley University).  About 10 yrs ago when UVU was UVSC(Utah Valley State College) they started to develop the Digital Media Program, before this there wasn't a Digital Media program at any school.  They were the first ones to develop it and since then any school who has developed a Digital Media program did so on the basis of there program.  As with any program over time it keeps reinventing itself and especially since the Movie and Television Industry has braced Digital Media as well.
One of the main coarses for UVU's Digital Degree is their Motion Pictures Essentials class which teaches a full overview of the film making process from Pre Production to Post Production. For part of this program the class was seperated into groups of 5 where we each take on the various positions of a film crew and develop our own student film.  Ours is called Trapped.  This is all pretty new to me and quite a learning experience.  One of the postions that I volunteered for in our group was that of Director.  Like most Directors I had to go over the script and decided on the shots that we were gonna use and how I wanted them filmed.  I knew that it was an important position but it is one that I have thought about following as I continue to learn the film making process.  Our student film is only 8 minutes long and we filmed it over 2 days.  Over the next few months our groups get to do the Post Production on our films and then each group member has to edit their own versions of the film and it will be interesting to see how each one turns out.  I just hope that my version of the film turns out well.

  • Las Vegas Star Trek Convention 2010

    Tuesday, Aug 10, 2010 7:07AM / Members only

Every Year there's a Star Trek Convetion in Las Vegas.  Yesterday I was in Vegas to attend this Exciting Event.  Even though I never got into Voyager or Enterprise I loved both the Original and Star Trek The Next Generation.  I also watched Star Trek Deep Space Nine.  I got my photo's taken with Jonathan Frakes (Ryker), Brent Spiner (Data) and Michael Dorn (Worf) all were on Star Trek The Next Generation.  I got Frakes, Spiner, and Dorn's Autographs as well.  The Highlight of the event was Sir Patrick Stewart (Picard on Next Generation, Professor X in the X-Men films).  His Photo was too expensive but I did get to meet him and get his Autograph (He Signed for 500 People).  He was Awesome!  I told him that it was an Honor to Meet Him and he Smiled and Thanked me.  It was pretty cool!  There were some great Q & A Sessions.  Patrick Stewart did a 30 Min Q&A, Brent Spiner did a 30 Min Q&A Session, and Finally Patrick and Brent did a 30 Min Q&A together.  They performed just like a 2 Man Comedy Act(Think Laurel and Hardy).  It was great and really funny!  At one Point Michael Dorn came out and pretended to beat Patrick Stewart to death like a Klingon Warrior. It was Awesome too!  I hope to do this again next year!  I'll have pictures uploaded in about 2 weeks.  The Pictures were Professionally done and the JPegs won't be ready till then.

  • R.I.P Dennis Hopper

Today Dennis Hopper passed away of a long battle with Prostate Cancer at 74!  He's best know for his roles in Easy Rider, Hoosiers and Speed!  He was never the Leading Man but His name was always atop The List of Best Supporting Actors of Any Generation!  I remember being so excited when I found out that he would be The Big Bad at the end of the groundbreaking Season 1 of 24!  He will be truely missed!

Here's a clip from True Romance of my All-Time Favorite Scene of Dennis Hopper!

  • Just The Same Old Stuff

    Saturday, May 22, 2010 4:05PM / Members only

I hope that everyone is doing good!  I haven't blogged or done any lists lately!  I haven't found anything interesting enough to motivate me to do do!  Hopefully I'll update on here before too long. I'll take any suggestions on what I should post blog wise on here if you have any.  Here's to a great Summer for All!

Here are some things that I am looking forward to this year!

Movie Wise: The A-Team looks pretty good!  The Expendbles looks pretty good too!  I'm looking foward to the 80's throwback film starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li and Dolph Lundgren.

TV Wise: The new Hawaii Five-O This Fall along with Maggie Q in Nikita sounds good!

  • R.I.P Corey Haim

    Thursday, Mar 11, 2010 3:00PM / Members only

These Past few years Hollywood has been plagued by Young Actors Dying of Overdoses, both Prescription Drugs and Street Drugs.  First we had Heath Ledger and Brad Renfro, a few months ago it was Brittney Murphy and earlier today it was Corey Haim.  Those of us who grew up in the 80's remember the Two Coreys ( Haim and Feldman).  They were in a handfull of films together like Lost Boys, License To Drive, and Dream A Little Dream.  Both have been known for not just their films but for their Drug Habbits over the years.  Whereas Corey Feldman beat his addiciton years ago, Corey Haim has struggled with it throughout his life especially most recently with his Prescription Drug Problem which it looks like it may have played a part in his Death!  Corey Haim was my favorite Child Actor growing up and I've been pulling for him to get his movie Career back on track!  Corey had much success early on in his career but was plagued with mostly straight to video films during the 90's becase of his Drug Habbit!  Last year he was in (Crank 2: High Voltage) his first Big Screen film in 6 years and he had about a Half Dozen Films in the can waiting to be released and its just too sad that he won't be alive to experiance the Joy in seeing his fans enjoying his renewed success.  He was taken away ,way to early from us, and we will always remember him!  Rest In Peace Corey Haim!
