  • Entertainment Weekly's 50 Actors We'd watch Anything In

    Saturday, Nov 7, 2009 2:36PM / Members only

I'm one of those people who loves to make lists.  I don't know exactly why but I think that it helps me to not only think but to exercise my memory as well.  This is one reason that I enjoy Entertainment Weekly's website, they do a lot of lists.  The most recent one that I saw was their 50 Actors That We'd Watch In Anything.  This list included some of the obvious big Movie Stars that one would think of like Johnny Depp, George Clooney, and Christian Bale. They even covered some smaller named Actors with loyal fan bases like me such as Nathan Fillon, Paul Rudd, and Simon Pegg.  The One Actor that not only surprised me but  Impressed me the most that was on that list was: Drumroll Please:

    Tony Leung

It was mainly surprising that he made the list because unlike other Asian Actors who have broken into Hollywood ,Tony is not one of them, he's had movies that have played in American Theaters but he hasn't done a Hollywood film.  Evan though Actors like Simon Yam and Anthony Wong would be on my lists as well it was good to see Tony Leung on a list for an American Magazines website.

  • R.I.P John Hughes ( Filmmaker)

    Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOkNIUw0c2s

A couple days ago Director/Writer John Hughes passed away of a Heart Attack at the age of 59.  He was one of the greatest filmmakers of any Generation and made a lot of classics.  During the 80's you couldn't go anywhere without catching one of his films.  He Wrote and Directed classics like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, and Ferris Beullers Day Off.  He also wrote National Lampoons Vacation, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation,  Pretty In Pink, Uncle Buck and Home Alone.  He helped launch the careers of Robert Downey Jr, Emilio Estevez, Mathew Broderick, Bill Paxton, Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Anthony Michael Hall, and Macaulay Culkan.   John Hughes will be greatly missed but his Influence will last forever.
  • G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra

    Saturday, Aug 8, 2009 4:42AM / Members only

As you can tell from the title this is an Origin Film.  Cobra hasn't been established yet so a few of the characters don't look like they did in the cartoon but they will be established by the end of the movie.  G.I. Joe had some great action and special effects. The Scenes with Snake Eyes ( Ray Park) and Storm Shadow ( Byung-hun Lee )were the best parts of the film.  For Girls this movie has Channing Tatum ( Step Up, Fighting )as Duke and for you guys you get Sienna Miller( Layer Cake, Stardust ) and Rachel Nichols ( Alias ).  Sienna Miller  was Hot as The Baroness and Rachel Nichols was Hot as Scarlett. They added some backstory to connect a few of the characters that didn't exist in the cartoon that I didn't care for. The film isn't great by any means but I did enjoy myself.  If you want to feel nalstagic for G.I. Joe or just see some cool action they your want to check this out, but if you want a movie that makes you think then this isn't for you.

  • STAR TREK

    Tuesday, May 12, 2009 3:10AM / Members only

This past weekend was the release of Star Trek.  It made about $75 Million its opening weekend.  I went and saw the Midnight showing when it was released.  I've actually already seen it twice, and yes it is that good.  It was directed by JJ Abrams the creator of Alias and Lost, and the director of Mission Impossible III.  You don't have to be a Star Trek fan to watch this film.  For the most part its an origin story and you don't really need to know much about Star Trek to enjoy it.  Its got great special effects and big explosions.  Chris Pine does a great James Kirk and Zachary Quinto pulls off a perfect Spock and Karl Urban is Doctor "Bones" McCoy Personafied.  Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Hott Fuzz) shows up about 80 mins in as Scotty.  All of the characters from the Original Star Trek are recreated for this film and Leonard Nimoy returns as future Spock.  Whether your familiar with Star Trek, Like it or not, I recommend seeing this film for you will walk out with a big smile on your face.

hahaha! We were sorely tempted to start a puppet fight, but behaved ourselves. We were the only people in the store and I think we might have been noticed. Didn't wanna get kicked out of a toy store ;D
