The Mist

SPOILERS BELOW>

I went into this movie with pretty low expectations. I guess it stemmed from the trailers that were, IMO, pretty lackluster and even comical seeming. I mean "The Mist"? It sounded just like "The Fog" or one of those other crappy horror B-movies.

But man was I wrong. The movie was pretty darn awesome throughout. The creatures were some of the most horrific I've seen on screen- from the large tentacles at the beginning to the huge spiders with acidic webbing. They were some of the most lethal and scary creepy crawlies in a while. They were just so freakin lethal it wasn't even funny. I mean one sting and boom you die. Or the aforementioned acidic webbing from those spiders.

It really was a roller coaster of a film. Marcia Gay Harden's bible thumping character was almost as threatening as the monsters outside. The theater I saw the movie in was packed full and almost everyone cheered and clapped when Ollie finally shot the bitch. LOL

And of course the ending was pretty horrific in its own right. I heard people talking about that all the way out into the parking lot. I kinda saw it coming and kept thinking...just wait a little longer before you start shooting yourselves. I felt really sorry for Drayton at the end having to live with what he had done.
