30 Days of Night

So I went to see this movie the other day with not very high expectations.

I'd never read the graphic novel and the review it got was only fair. But I really enjoyed this movie and thought it was good. The vampires were vicious and pretty scary. The way they attacked people was more like a mauling and actually reminded me a lot of zombie movies like 28 Days Later.

There's lots of gore and blood of course and the concept of the film, having it set in Barrow Alaska where every winter they experience a period of 30 days with no sunlight, was cool and different.

SLIGHT SPOILERS:

This movie also the THE most realistic decapitation I've ever see in a movie. Uh, not that I'd know what it looks like in real life. lol. It looked so freaking real that it was crazy. You could see tissue, cartilage, vertebrae and everything else as this person's head was lopped off. It was pretty messed up.
