Man, it's been so long since I've used this blog that I almost forgot how. Anyway I finally saw Ip Man and I've got to say that it was one of Donnie's finest works that I've seen. The story, setting, and action were really great. I enjoyed seeing the other martial artists besides Donnie showcase their talens.
Sammo did a fine job with the choreography too. Donnie kicked a lot of ass and I loved the machine gun punches he delivered on a few guys during the dojo fight scene. All in all a good movie and I look forward to the sequel. Good job to all invoved with this one.

SPOILERS BELOW>
I went into this movie with pretty low expectations. I guess it stemmed from the trailers that were, IMO, pretty lackluster and even comical seeming. I mean "The Mist"? It sounded just like "The Fog" or one of those other crappy horror B-movies.
But man was I wrong. The movie was pretty darn awesome throughout. The creatures were some of the most horrific I've seen on screen- from the large tentacles at the beginning to the huge spiders with acidic webbing. They were some of the most lethal and scary creepy crawlies in a while. They were just so freakin lethal it wasn't even funny. I mean one sting and boom you die. Or the aforementioned acidic webbing from those spiders.
It really was a roller coaster of a film. Marcia Gay Harden's bible thumping character was almost as threatening as the monsters outside. The theater I saw the movie in was packed full and almost everyone cheered and clapped when Ollie finally shot the bitch. LOL
And of course the ending was pretty horrific in its own right. I heard people talking about that all the way out into the parking lot. I kinda saw it coming and kept thinking...just wait a little longer before you start shooting yourselves. I felt really sorry for Drayton at the end having to live with what he had done.

So I went to see this movie the other day with not very high expectations.
I'd never read the graphic novel and the review it got was only fair. But I really enjoyed this movie and thought it was good. The vampires were vicious and pretty scary. The way they attacked people was more like a mauling and actually reminded me a lot of zombie movies like 28 Days Later.
There's lots of gore and blood of course and the concept of the film, having it set in Barrow Alaska where every winter they experience a period of 30 days with no sunlight, was cool and different.
SLIGHT SPOILERS:
This movie also the THE most realistic decapitation I've ever see in a movie. Uh, not that I'd know what it looks like in real life. lol. It looked so freaking real that it was crazy. You could see tissue, cartilage, vertebrae and everything else as this person's head was lopped off. It was pretty messed up.

I've been debating which system to get for a little while now.
I've been pouring over which games are out or coming to each system to try to help me decided. Cause it really comes down to the games afterall. Truthfully I'll probably end up getting a PS 3 as I have the PS1 and 2.
Xbox does have some good exclusives though and to be honest most of the 'must play' or really big games don't even come out until 2008-2009 for either system.
The ones I'm most looking forward to: (might add some others later)
Resident Evil 5 (cause RE 4 was fucking amazing. One of the best games I've ever played)
Silent Hill 5 (4 kinda sucked but I enjoyed the others.)
Grand Theft Auto 4 (I've enjoyed this series a lot.)
Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS 3. Just beat MGS 2 a week ago even though I've had it for years. lol)
Tekken 6 (Gotta have my Tekken fix. This one is coming to PS 3)
Devil May Cry 4

So lately I've been watching Naruto on the net.
I was buying the uncut DVD boxed sets that have been coming out in order to watch the show, but there's just too many months in between them. I didn't feel like waiting to see what happened next.
Starting with the second round of the Chuunin exam I watched all the way up to episode 136. Which is where the fillers start. Then I skipped straight to Shippuden.
Man, its really a great show. I like most of the characters and the story is good. Though I've started to notice, especially in Shippuden, that the show is coming down with more and more of the Dragonball Z syndrome.
By that I mean the loooong drawn out talking before and in between fighting and taking forever to get something accomplished. I noticed it earlier in Naruto but then it seemed to get better pretty much until the end. Now it seems to have fallen back into the DBZ pattern.
After I get caught up on Shippuden I'll get up to speed on Bleach which is also one of my favorite animes.
