About Me
My whole life, I dreamed of becoming a novelist but somehow ended up as a photographer. I was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Korean immigrants who tell me that Boston was quite possibly the most racist place for an Asian immigrant to land in the 70's. We left Boston when I was hardly 1 and I lived in and around New York City (Queens, Manhattan, Long Island, Brooklyn, New Jersey) ever since. I'll always refer to New York as "home" no matter where I end up.
In the fall of 2005, I packed up my camera (and some clothes) and moved to Hong Kong. Really, just like that. I had never been to Asia before and I figured moving there would be the best way to experience it completely. That experiment turned into a 2 year stay. I hate planes and hotels but have spent the better portion of 2007 on planes and in hotels.
People tend to look at my client list more than they look at my actual work sometimes. If it were up to me, my portfolio and website would consist of vacation pictures and my personal photo album. I think it's my better work and far more engaging.

Favorites
- Favorite Music: way too much to list. I'm a fan of songs, not so much bands or genres. my very first album was Run DMC, which I dubbed to cassette from an older friend's 12" LP. Run DMC were pretty much The Beatles for me. Some notables: The Jesus and Marychain, Depeche Mode, Cure, Company Flow, Mos Def, Guru and Premier (Gang Starr), Black Moon, Fleetwood Mac, Kool G. Rap, Johnny Hartman, Thelonius Monk, and of course always Marvin Gaye...
- Favorite Movies: I'm an artist, so I know I'm supposed to say stuff like, "Un Chien Andalou" changed my life or something, but Police Academy and Goonies are my all time favorite movies. And I say that without an ounce of irony. I just think they're great movies. They're in a category of their own. After that, it gets pretty typical I guess. I'm a sucker for anything that Stanley Kubrick made. His sense and mastery of pace is explicitly his own and has never even been closely matched or mimicked by any other filmmaker. Roman Polanski is another great contemporary "auteur" but will most likely be remembered more for the controversy in his life rather than his films. Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing" was possibly one of the most important films of my time, especially growing up in New York.
