it's been a while. so what have i been up to? who cares?
hey, plane. quit trying to be a boat. you're a plane.
I have a fear of flying. i do it at least once a month, but i'm still terrified every time. never get used to it. Malcolm Gladwell has a section in his new book where he uses plane crash statistics to explore the role of cultural indoctrination in work ethic, work protocol... just behavior in work in general, i guess and how that affects success rate, failure rate, etc. he basically says that people who are culturally prone to being idiots are more likely to crash planes. and that if you come from a culture that encourages you to not prevent plane crashes, then you are more likely to crash planes. he also says that if you come from a culture that teaches you not to say anything when you see that the plane you are co-piloting is about to crash, then the liklihood of a plane that you are co-piloting will crash is pretty high. i think that's what he said. i summarize as i read so that's what i remember. but this dude who crashed this plane into the hudson river was smart. or something. because he crashed it nicely. and no one died. so what can we deduce from this incident? the pilot was american, so we can safely assume that americans (and those who subscribe to american culture) are more inclined to crash planes well.
i'm so smart.

these two dudes walking down the street in causeway bay were in town from nyc. they are famous. "But, Dan, wait," you say, "how do we know that they're really famous? we can't see their faces, that could be anyone."
Exactly. Understand? it could be
anyone.big shout out to dude in the white tee and homeboy in the black tee and everyone else who loves and respects their craft. big thumbs down to fame chasers and fame whores who dilute the craft by acting like hookers.

so, i woke up early today and turned on my skype this morning to have a conf call with a publisher in Seattle and i get this pop up, saying some user wants me to add him to my contact list. so i figure it's one of the guys at the publishing company, i add him, and he instantly sends a message. the following conversation takes place:
him: hey there!
me: hi
him: how are you?
me: who is this?
him: Chao Bin
me: huh? who are you?
him: a man in China.
*silence*
(now picture me staring at my computer screen with a scrunched up face, feeling a little confused and a little bit gay)

Who the fuck are the Jonas Brothers? are they real people? are they really a band? those three boys exist in real life and sell music? or are they like that imaginary 32 member gangster rap group i started when i was 16? we were awesome.

we're back. again. if you're a fan of the boom-bap and all that, then come and enjoy. i've been feeling a little homesick lately, so i might just have to take it out on my music selection... NYC 90's hip hop until your head hurts and a whole lot of other gems to mix it up throughout the night.
@ Racks, 10 pm until i say so.
