these places have history to me. a 3D scrapbook with a narrative and the plot changes everyday.

"I am going to sing for you, a little off-key perhaps, but I will sing.
I will sing while you croak, I will dance over your dirty corpse."
- Henry Miller

New York City has been the protagonist of my story for my entire life. so much of that story in the last two years has just been filler that will end up being edited out in memory. Because too much filler makes your mind foggy. Editing and purging filler often takes distance (literally and figuratively).
With time and 10,000 miles, so much of it already feels like it was all from a bad movie I watched. Perspective is an amazing thing.

I had to put these little fuckers in their place. All furry and cute and shit, thinking they can do whatever they want...

I'm thinking of getting this tattooed on my chest and then whenever I need to, I could just rip open my shirt and put my finger to my lips and say, "sssssshhhhhhhhhhhh"

(and then all i'll have to do is find a street sign that says, "the
sound of your voice makes me want to shove knives into my ears" and get
that tattooed as well and i'll pretty much be set)

walking down broadway toward one of the convergence points where broadway and 5th avenue do a quick little smooch near the flatiron, the pulse of the city, that neighborhood, that particular walk, takes me back to my life before I knew what Hong Kong (or even Asia) looked like (aside from movies, pics, etc). that walk was my daily commute for many years. i spent nearly 30 years in and around this city and the last year and a half was the longest i've ever been away, in my life. from november 2007 until May 2009.
I left NYC and started traveling toward Asia in 2005 and I must say, I haven't seen nearly as much as I wish had... but there will be plenty of time to explore Asia in the rest of the year. right now, i'm re-exploring home.
"New York, New York, You know it sounds so nice, They had to name it twice"
i'll drink (water) to that...
