  • 2 Auditions for Movies in Chicago Today!!!

    Sunday, Apr 5, 2009 9:18PM / Standard Entry

Well I am not a nervous wreck this morning. I wound up getting 2 auditions scheduled today which is cool cause I live about an hour outside Chicago and it saves me a trip. I just wish the weather was better. I have one at 12:30 and one at 2 PM. Both people know about the other one so if I am running late, they are okay about it. Wish me luck!!! I also plan to stop by Chinatown for some yummy food too. It's been so long since I had some authentic Chinese food.

  • Old 2R Concert Video from '06

    Saturday, Mar 28, 2009 10:26PM / Standard Entry

Back in '06 after everything went to hell and I was broke and homelessin HK.  Free internet was a premium I needed to at least send messages to friends and relatives in the US to let them know I was ok.  Also trying to keep up with some of my friends in HK too.   There was a place in Tin Shui Wai where I could use it free for a few hours.  Sometimes I resorted to the little counters in Yuen Long shopping plazas that allowed free 10 minue or more sessions.

One day I was at YL Plaza and the girls who worked there knew mecause I was there all the time.  One of them said I should attend their free concert that afternoon and seated me in area.  I always had strange things like that happen to me over there.  It wasn't too  bad though, getting a seat at a show for some HK singers I had no idea who they were.

If you watch the video, at the 1:49 mark in the bottom right hand corner you can see me sitting in on the show.  My hair looked very Wolverine-ish at that point cause I didn't have it cut for a while.  I see all the post here about what Race and Rosanne are doing now and it looks like they are doing very well for themselves and have many fans.  Its cool to me because I got to see them before I left HK and I join this page and see them again on here all the time. I wish both of them much success in the future.

Another post I'll have to do in the future is one about the night I went to CWB to kill time and shop and got pulled into the premiere for Over The Hedge and got to meet Wong Chi Wah.

  • Japan Nite Concert in Chicago

    Tuesday, Mar 24, 2009 9:03AM / Standard Entry

Tomorrow night is one of my favourite nights in spring.  Its the Japan Nite concert.  Its a yearly showcase featuring up and coming indie acts from Japan that get a nice week long tour through the United States.  A couple of acts from last year are returning this year,  detroit7 and The Emeralds.  Also on the bill are SA, SPARTA LOCALS, FLiP, and Omodaka.   I can't wait!!!!

  • My english teaching career in Hong Kong

    Friday, Mar 20, 2009 10:28PM / Standard Entry

This is probably going to be the first flashback post on my blog here.  In between movie set stories and upcoming projects, I'll write about how my life in HK was.   One of the coolest things I did out there was teach english to kids.  I started out small with a school in Tin Shui Wai a few times a week but then was going to have a huge ESL gig at a remodeled school.   The school was even going to put up posters and billboards all over HK promoting me and my friend.  We wanted to go for a look like these guys:

I always got quite a laugh when I seen those posters for him and Dick Hui and Kevin Ko ( I think that was his name).  Sadly everything came to an end with what happened that left me sleeping on park benches and flat broke.   I'll address most of these stories in my book.

Before I left, I did pyut up little tag notes around Yuen Long, Tuen Mun and Tin Shui Wai to tutor and teach people Japanese and english.  It went ok.  I was also very cheap, I just need you to buy me dinner.   I also was approached by a guy in Yuen Long to start teaching at a school there about 2 weeks before I left.   It was too late to get my visa going at that point.   But I do miss the days of teaching out there.  Heres a pic of me and my first class I worked with.
