  • 向柏榮 Is still Da Man...

    Tuesday, Nov 11, 2008 5:10PM / Standard Entry

We had a great event last thursday night at the Hong Kong Contender Fight Night!

The turn out was better than we expected, proves that Heung Pak Wing, the local hero still has great drawing power...

He faced off against Zidov, a swiss champ in his own right, and a Contender Asia Finalist, but the main event that night was as one sided as it can get, Heung floored Zidov with the first kick he threw in the first round and it was down hill from then on for Zidov, taking a heap of punishment from the local favorite, and in the end, the ref called a TKO and stopped the fight after he ate an elbow that dropped him.

There is no doubt that Heung is da man, gave Zidov the ass kicking of the night. I am not sure what you guys think, but I think that was a huge mismatch.

In my opinion, the fight that followed the main event between Venooij and Askerov was the fight of the night and Hueng would have had a handful to deal with if he were to face Askerov instead.

Heung used to fight in the 130 to 140 pound weight class, putting on a good 15 pounds to fight in the 155 weight class. He looked cut up for the night none the less, but when you look at Askerov whose just as tall as Heung, looked like a mini hulk at the night of the fight. Regardless of his win against Zidov that night, I am not sure 155 is the best weightclass for Heung to stay in, having seen the size of the other 155's on the night.

Rather than seeing him win in an easy fight, I think the audience would have liked to see Heung get tested by a more worthy opponent like Askerov, whose kicks and punches against Venooij echoed around the stadium that night.

May be this one can be set up for next year's Hong Kong Contender 2... anyways, here is the final minutes of the main event, check it out...

  • Patrick Cote stood toe to toe with Anderson Silva... and tragedy struck...

    Monday, Oct 27, 2008 11:28PM / Standard Entry

UFC 90 just past... the main event was Anderson Silva vs Patrick Cote...

Anderson Silva is by far the best pound for pound fighter in MMA today and no one in the UFC has been able to stand and trade with him for the last 7 fights... He beat Rich Franklin twice, Dan Henderson, Chris Leban, Nate Marquart, Travis Lutter... the guy even put on weight going up to Light Heavyweight to fight James Irvin, and KO's the guy in under a minute...

Now comes Patrick Cote... challenging him for his middle weight belt, and stood toe to toe with him, trading punches with the "Spider" for 2 rounds, going further than anyone who has faced Silva...

He took half a dozen solid punches and knees from Anderson Silva and was unphased by all of them... then comes the third round... as you can see on the video, he starts the round waving 3 fingers in the air, telling the crowd that he has survived 2 rounds with Silva... If the fight went to a decision, Cote might have been able to get a decision win since Silva was ducking him most of round 1 and parts of round 2... What happened was tragic to say the least... for those of you who heard the bad news... this is what happened...

  • The Hype is over! Kimbo Slice KO'ed!

    Tuesday, Oct 7, 2008 11:41PM / Standard Entry

Another one for the fight fans...

You may have heard of a man by the name of Kimbo Slice, once thought of as the baddest man on earth, he would fight anyone anywhere anytime, videos of his street fights took off around the same time as youtube and he became an overnight star... And he took the MMA world by storm going 3-0 in his first year as a pro fighter...

No one expected him to lose in his original scheduled fight against Ken Shamrock, but when Ken bailed due to a cut on his head, he was replaced by a little known fighter called Seth Petruzelli... and this is the result of that fight...
