Well, I always thought Jet Li came off very natural on film.

In Warlords, he really took his acting to the next level.

With that in mind, I’d like to say it's hard to find good acting martial artist because, in my opinion (I’m often wrong but this is what I feel for now), the basic ideas contradict.

Let’s take a looksy, shall we?

Martial arts is so military, obligatory, compulsory, it’s about self-discipline, self- contained... learn to tolerate the pain and bite your lip, a man should drop blood before dropping tears, etc.

Acting is being creative, expression, freedom to be and do, don’t do what other do do what YOU do, reverting back to impulse, taking ownership of true self, taking ownership of socially unacceptable self, being entitled to everything, no limits, imagination, etc.

but yet on a high level, they coincide; freedom, flow, expression, emotional commitment, physical connection, meaning, imagination, etc.

common mistakes (imbalance):

Too much mind and no body: They think it’s correct because it feels good. They have mental freedom but the instrument (physical body) is not ready. Good example: people who think martial arts is “magical.” Tip: work on basic techniques, basics is the foundation for cultivating self.

Too much body and no mind: the physical body is strong but there’s no actual martial spirit. Good example: people that can do many great physical things but do not have the presence or charisma to capture hearts. Tip: practice emotional content. Bruce Lee preached about it.

I do both so yes my opinion is more valid than yours LOL j/k

Chapter “this one” – On The Edge is on http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1458955/ . now we just gotta finish the darn thing. What’s the halt? … all I gotta say is it’s not my fault haha. Hey that rhymes.

Chapter “next one” – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Audition was bunk as hell. Musta been like 3-500 people that showed up; the village people, circus wizards, paraplegics and comedians (maybe not but coulda fooled me) all came for the powwow. Most of the best performers were my peng you’s (means friend in mandarin). So if none of us got a call then we know the deal.

I heard the script wasn’t even ready yet. This is one of the extraordinary ways that Hollywood likes to keep us on our feet… and get READY… FOR….. nothing. Yep nothing. Many many many things turn into nothing. I’m not being pessimistic. I’m being a “nothing” man. Distinguish it. ::thumbs up::

Chapter 3 – I almost desecrated my sister’s face trying to kill a fly. Hahahhaaa. Ok, this is my favorite chapter.

4. I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately. Anybody else love psychology booKs?

10. there’s a casting call for a young bruce lee for IP MAN 2. http://www.kungfucinema.com/casting-calls-for-young-bruce-lee-in-ip-man-2-8851 . first thing they are looking for is the appearance. Does anyone think I look like a young bruce lee? There’s certain points in bruce’s emotion and physicality that I can duplicate but looks… I can’t help that.
How is Donnie Yen going to look like Ip Man? He'd have to drop to 120 like what Christian Bale did for a past role. I dont think that's possible for a martial artist to do and maintain the skill though.

11. was kinda annoyed that I couldn’t get an audition for green hornet character KATO. Makes me realize how much I need an agent for these things. …currently pursuing one and there’s a good chance I will get one very soon.

12. tired of dumb Hollywood ACTION films?! Join INDIE-REVOLUTION. The notion D Miles and I began to show Hollywood how to do this mutha haha. We ain’t messin around. Hollywood won’t know what hit em. I'm thinking we should really make this a real group, so we can have bbq's and stuff hehe.

13. awaiting in happy anticipation for my girlfriends return after 2 years without her. I’m positive that our relationship dynamics will not be the same. We shall start anew. This is simply the beginning…

Biography

Half of the Cambodian population was being murdered as D.Y. let out his first cry. As refugees, his family escaped the communist regime and fled to Thailand, the Philippines and, eventually, to America where he was raised in Long Beach, California.
Love for martial arts was recognized early in D.Y. At age seven, a visit to a karate school dazzled and amazed him, but martial art training was a luxury his family could not afford. To make up for it, his dad watched the karate class from afar and tried to draw the techniques for DY to learn. Time passed, and so too did D.Y.’s hopes of train in martial arts. He would have to settle for watching and imitating figures like Jet Li, Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan. Inspired to imitate and create movements in the martial spirit, little by little, he began opening up to life and abandoning the violent lifestyle he had taken on.

Perspective

My passion is not simply acting, martial arts and film. My dream of revamping the martial spirit through the media is an intervention. I want to use the media to reach the world and my message is one of unity.

My dad says America is his saving grace since it was America that saved us in our moment of desperation during the flee of the Cambodian Civil War. His three one time starving children are now college graduates and, in one way or another, aspire to give back to humanity. While some curse the American government, my father praises it. He says it’s not about a right or wrong perspective, it’s about what perspective brings the best out of you. What makes you get back up when life beats you to the ground, buries you under the heaviest rocks and tries to destroys every hope you have? And it is about discovery. Mine for that gold that exist in your soul, no matter what dark places you encounter along the way. Discover that one thing, the will of your life, that keeps your ship steaming, no matter how long it takes for the shores to arrive. On that shore stands the hope worth fighting for. Lastly, what perspective gives you the courage to pay it forward? With empathy, comes courage. In your weakness, you find your strength and in sacrificing yourself, you find yourself.
