    2) Delete one of the questions you don't like and add a new question.  There should be 20 questions in total.

    3) Pass it on by listing some people you'd like to answer those questions. Notify them by signing on their Guestbook to tell them they've been picked. • Sewing? ME?

    Tuesday, Feb 12, 2008 12:33PM / Standard Entry / Crafts

Well, JRS showed how to make a quilt.
The closest thing to sewing I usually do is to put the logo on our uniforms for TKD.
I've got a great little embroidery machine.

All I have to do is to hit the 'start' button and this baby does all the work!

Tonight I had 6 uniforms to do so I thought I'd take some pictures and share the experience.

Start with a new gi.  Well, hopefully it's new and the student hasn't worn it right before I get it!

The hoop holds the fabric taunt so the pattern sews properly-

Can't forget the backing! This makes the pattern hold it's shape better.

Look the machine has a computer, and I touch the screen- see the little symbol - below the timer.

Attach the hoop to the bar on the machine -

Now starts the fun part - I press START and the noise begins!
It's kinda fun to watch the progress.

    The LAST STITCH!!

Take the hoop off the machine -

    Clean off the backing-

    Trim all those threads!

    Here is the finished gi.

A close-up of the finished product-

Here is my own gi - I put the logo on this one as well.

A close up of the logo, white on black -

Finishing touches to the gi - the Academy Patch

    and the Association Patch.

The students get these patches at their first Promotion (testing)

So- that's the most interesting thing I've done tonight - besides clean my room and clean the kitchen.

  • Pretty Little Box

    Thursday, Jan 31, 2008 7:52AM / Standard Entry

I found this great little box at a little hole in the wall store downtown. It's the kind of shop that is chock-full of odds-n-ins that seem out of place. It's not exactly a second hand store and not exactly a flea market. The people that run it just travel around and buy thing from all sorts of venues and bring it back to their store.
It's located in an old part of town that is being rejuvenated, so its the up-and-coming area right now.

    Well about the box...
It's about 8 inches wide, 4 inches deep and 4 inches tall.
I'm not sure if its age, it may be a replica or just an ornate box.
There are pretty gold painted pictures on the front and on top is Fu. The inside is covered with newsprint.
    Here are some pictures.

  • Ranch Day

    Wednesday, Jan 30, 2008 11:29AM / Standard Entry

    A Day at Heifer Ranch

Today I took my new boss to Heifer's Ranch. It's only about 45 minutes away from our Headquarters building downtown.
I was a little worried about the weather, it was raining when I left for work. I knew it wouldn't be to much fun to be on an outdoor 'adventure' on a yucky rainy cold day.

By the time we headed out, 9am, the rain had stopped but it was gloomy downtown. As we drove the clouds were moving pretty quickly - back toward town! Yeah! The sun started poking its head out about 10 miles from the Ranch.
    How wonderful!
By the time we arrived the sun was shinning and the temperature was getting warmer. The wind was still blowing with pretty strong gusts.

It felt more like March than January!

Most of the animals were up for the winter.
The sheep were out in the outer pastures, as were most of the cattle.
Somehow today I got away without a picture of Briggs & Stratton... my favorite Water Buffalo! So here's a picture from this summer.

Here's another of the large draft animals we have on the ranch, these are definitely workers and not pets!

  • Tony Jaa's Birthday

    Wednesday, Jan 23, 2008 11:00AM / Standard Entry

Tony Jaa has a birthday soon. February 5th!
    (Just 4 days after mine!)

I decided that I would send him a gift. I made a bracelet for him, and a neat little box to put it in.

Here are some pix of my gift for TJ.
(Hope you like it) Yes. I really did make this, and my daughter helped.
