Formed in 2008 by Cody Choi and Ada Ooi. Cody's Moving Group aims at exploring the break-through moments of the human body and the mind through different art mediums. Fearless in all kinds of creative expedition, the company is keen to collaborate with arts professionals around the world to allow the public in experiencing the limitless boundaries with the expressions of the human body.
Born in Hong Kong, trained at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts where he had received twice the Jackie Chan scholarship. Then he received Laban Dance Centre full scholarship to join Transitions Dance Company in London. He has performed with
Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, De Vlaamse Opera, English National Opera, Royal National Theatre, American Dance Festival, Chinese Culture Center London, The UK Chinese acrobatics co, Lamat Dance (contemporary & flamenco dance) and Hong Kong Ballet
Group. He also works with choreographers such as Matthew Bourne,Arthur Pita, Neville Campbell, Saju Hari, Paul Old, Rosalind Newman, Boi Sakti and Sinman Yiu.
His choreography in the UK: - “Untitled” Springs Dance Company, 'Mm" was commissioned by The Royal Opera House and funded by Arts Council England. “red” was performed at Linbury and The Clore Studio at The Royal Opera House, The Place, Studio theatre and the power station Galley. Also “Lian” at the Cochran Theatre and “Devil Art” at the Rudolph Theatre in England.
Choreography in Hong Kong: - ‘cho ngoi dik fu wuhn’ Emerging Choreographers Series, ‘Recollection’ @ CityPlaza, Youth Art Foundation. Cody’s a guest choreographer for The Hong Kong Academy For Performing Atrs.
He is one of the founders of 5 ding dance unlimited in HK .
He also appeared in commercials such as Head & Shoulders (Europe), Jubilee Music Channel (BBC), You complete me (BBC) Bust –A-Move (MTV), Seirogan Medicine and Nissan cup Noodle (HK).
Cody had just finished 3 world tour seasons with Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake ( New Adventures/ AMP) .
