North America or Bust

What? I haven't posted a blog since May! That can't be right. I have got to stop dreaming about blogging. Well, for the two of you paying attention, I'm headed to North America for a couple of months with a gorgeous young lady, thank you very much. I'll be back in Beijing in mid September, so who knows, maybe I'll have some goods to share during our travels. Most of the time I'll will be in Oregon, but plans are afoot to spend a week in Baja Mexico learning to surf (that's pronounced Ba Ja for you non-Spanish...Read more

Yuey, Porsche and Alive Not Dead, oh my!

Dinners...quaint. Parties...nice. But on Sunday, a few from Alive Not Dead needed a little pick me up.Something to remind us that we need to be open to try new things, to take a few risks and to always wear a seat belt. So some of the crew headed out to the Beijing Goldenport International Circuit (motto: non-Olympic sports venues get the financial shaft) to watch the Porsche Carrera Cup. This was no small feat considering that almost no one in Beijing, including taxi drivers, know the race track even exists. That'...Read more

Here's a few pics from the Alive Not Dead 3rd Anniversary Party, Saturday night in Beijing. By the time we showed up, Vics was already full and more people kept on arriving. Here's what the scene was like on the outside.

AnD Dinner Party in Beijing

It was not the ordinary way I expected to find a venue for an Alive Not Dead dinner party in Beijing. The directions were clear enough, but could there really be a restaurant down these menacing alleyways? I checked the date, it was not April Fools' Day.

"Hey kid, ever danced with the devil by the pale moonlight?" Creepy

Details, details

Went into my office today, pushed everything off my desk and found a keyboard. How quaint! Since Reina started school, life has been crazy around here - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Still, I thought I had better share some photos for my three fans (thanks for the add Mom). However, after several months of blog-neglect, I've no idea where to begin. So on a whim, I grabbed a few detail shots that seem to go well together and one that does not. Okay, okay, next time I'll try to post some scantily clad babes for DY an...Read more

Can I Get You a Cup o' Ley Mo?

I'm not sure if this is marketing genius or a colossal clash of languages, but I had to share.

Who says a photographer can't right?

The rumors are true, once again, I've been moonlighting on you. My life as the Beijing Baba has continued since I last posted a note about it here. I'm in the current double month issue of Beijing Kids and this time my musing is about Reina's lack of sleeping habits when her mother is away. Honestly, I think it is the best piece I have written for the magazine thus far. Read more
