Yeah, interesting read. I guess Yahoo needed to choose which way they wanna go - search or content. The only problem with the article is that Yahoo had always used a third party search engine.  It was never really their thing. They started as a directory. Then they added content. They're actually more of a content site than a search engine, even though they advertise themselves as one.
